Works great, easy to use
I looked through just about every single apple slicer available on Amazon, and I ended up going with this one because (1) it cuts fruit into 12 (not 8) slices, which imo is a much better size; and (2) it had a pretty high average rating and didn't have any more horror story reviews than any others (virtually all of them have at least one one-star review with a picture of a broken slicer and a bloody hand!). I've always been a bit cautious with it now since I'm terrified of cutting my hand open, and it's true that it doesn't quite feel sturdy enough to just slam it down on any apple at all, but it works great if you just take 5 seconds to cut. I've had no complaints at all. It's not crazy sharp, I guess, but I haven't had any real issues cutting any apples yet, and it fits all the big apples available at my grocery store. Cleaning it is simple.Bottom line: don't put your full weight on it all at once and I think it's fantastic! :)

Not as I had hoped...
I was disappointed this apple slicer wasn’t sharper than it is. I had purchased this apple slicer to replace the one I have been using for years because it had gotten a bit dull. This new apple slicer is just like the older one, requiring much strength, which I do not have.

Not bad
The blades don’t go 100% through the bottom of the apple. So you’ll be forced to awkwardly pull the slices and core out. It’s nice for when you need a lot of apple slices at once but I wouldn’t use it over a knife on the daily.

How did I cut apples before?
I honestly don't know how I lived before this slicer, cutting apples like a peasant. Never again. Even my lazy teenage daughter uses this.I bought it for apple pie making, since the thought of cutting up more than two apples makes me want to go store bought. Now with this thing, I could go into the apple pie selling business. It's also very sturdy and doesn't hurt your hands to push down.

It’s alright for now.
It works, but it’s kind of scary. It takes a lot more strength than I thought it would and as of recently I can hear what sounds like the plastic getting stressed and beginning to give out. It definitely isn’t apple slicing sounds. I do have to give it my all to get it through the apple, but I’m not a strong person to begin with. I’ve only cut about five apples with this, but I feel like it could give out at any point now. I’m going to use it until it shatters or hurts me, but I do wish it were sturdier so that it didn’t feel like impending doom so soon.

It's convenient, uniform and relatively easy.
The biggest issue with the slicer is if you are short, as I am (5'2"), it's very hard to get purchase on the slicer in order to push down hard enough to slice the apples. It can be quite a struggle unless you use small ones. Older users (I'm 75) may not have the strength to push that hard. Still, it's a good slicer and the slices are the perfect size for peanut butter 'swipes'.

Dull Blades
Bought this apple slicer for the 12 wedge cut feature which produces a nice wedge size. However, the blades are so dull I had to use my entire body weight to cut through the apple. Have tried several different types of apples but could not cut through any of them without much effort. Went back to my original dull cutter that worked much better. Very disappointed especially since it was nt cheap!

Not the Sharpest Apple Slicer in Drawer
I have a Farberware apple slicer that yields 8 pieces. The slices are too thick to make apple pie so I purchased this slicer with high hopes of saving time. The ergonomics are basically the same but comparatively less sturdy when pressing down on the apple. I had to press very hard to even start the slicing. The blades aren't sharp enough to get through the apple beyond an inch. I tried a variety of apples. Firmer and softer. Unfortunately, no luck.Running my fingers over the Farberware product requires caution, not this one. Maybe if I had more strength I could push it through. Not here to fight with my apple slicer. Baking is for relaxing.
