Apples to Apples Party Crate Card Game (OBG7730)

Fun - and a good G-rated alternative to CAH.
It's a fun game. I got it before CAH was released. If you're going to get it, get this full set and don't bother with anything smaller. It's a nice G-rated game that has the aspects of CAH in its gameplay, but without the filth. That's good if you have party-goers who want to be mormon/clean/g-rated or if you want to include children of a tender age. It's not for the REALLY little ones, but you could include young teens in this game. I'd be ok with my niece playing this game. (who is about 11ish - but very very very mature for her age, I'd say she acts more like 18ish) The game requires thought and cleverness. Humor and a grasp of what is funny for other people is important.

Easy to learn, fun to play, lots of laughs
You deal the cards, show the green apple card, everybody turns in a red apple card, and hilarity ensues. Each hand inspires discussion and chuckles. I liked the variations suggested in the instructions, such as dealing all green (adjective) cards and finding the best match for a red (noun) card, or trying to find the least-fitting match, or just turning in a red card blindly before seeing what the green card says. The judge can determine how to play the hand, and my favorite part, the decision of the judge is completely arbitrary, meaning you can pick whichever card you like. It's easy, fun, and a game can be as long or short as you like. There is a lot of shuffling involved, since you will go through a lot of cards quickly, so have someone on hand who knows how to shuffle a deck of cards. Recommended.

Everyone can play
We recently played this at a holiday party with people age 8 (with some adult help)up to age 93. Even people who are "bad at" and "don't like to play games"(me)can get in on the fun. I also bought the Jr. version which I highly recommend for younger players. I felt it was worth the price of the game just to see the smile on the face of one family member who really is not good at games and won this one. It also guarantees some laughs AND is educational- reading and reasoning skills with some facts thrown in. It's simple to learn and quick to play and you get to know a little more about the players. What more could you want from a game!Oh, and the wooden crate is sturdy and a great idea. I hate it when then game boxes fall apart and they generally do.

Apples 2 Apples
Apples to Apples is great fun! We have made multiple purchases of this game. Playing it in groups of widely varying backgrounds can cause fits of laughter or incredulous, aghast looks. We have played this game on 3 continents - N. America, Europe, and Asia. Playing cross culturally and with people whose first language is not English, brings a new perspective. For example, playing with a Japanese Diplomat and his wife we were taken aback by his playing the card "Bombing Pearl Harbor" for a match to "Fabulous". Definitely different strokes for different folks! A family in China had so much fun playing the game that we bought a game set and sent it to them. Like I said - it is great fun!

Fun Fun Fun
Fun for a family of four or more, and for a couples get together. I only read about this game in Amazon, and I kinda liked what I read, but believe me it is Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. We started playing it, and it doesn't take much to learn. I love to win some of the rounds in this game, but I have to admit the fights with the judges are fun too. This never failed to amaze me. We played it over a dozen of time now, and we only had it since Christmas. Every game has it's moments. If you like party games this one is for you. If you like arguments this one is also for you. If you like to make jokes this one is for you too. Man you should see what some of these cards say!!! :)

So much fun!
I absolutely love this game! I am not really someone who loves to play games, but this one is great! Most of my friends don't really play many games either, but this game goes over well with everyone! It's even versitile! I was just at a bachelorette party where everyone but the bride-to-be was given cards and she had to pick which of us had given her the best card to fill the blank in sentences that the hostess had written up beforehand. So for instance, we had to choose one of our cards to fit "Kelly thinks that Jason is _____" and Kelly had to choose between "frightful", "yummy", "a highschool bathroom", and "smelly". I bet there are lots of other creative ways to use the game too!

Great game for entire family and friends
We had played this game at Thanksgiving with about 8 of us around a big round table. Others on the sidelines were enjoying it as much. Ages ranged from 9-55 at the time. The kids had so much fun they begged for the game as a Christmas present. Since then, we have played it with couples and had equally good time. Partly a game of chance as to which cards you are dealt, it also brings out a good humor and creativity. The educational value came to the younger players who needed definitions of the descriptive word cards before they could play a round. All in all, a great game!

I just hate Apples to Apples
Nothing wrong with the game, per say. I just hate Apples to Apples. It's a game for people who say they like games, but really just want to sit around and talk while idly doing something. I just bought the cards to use with another game.
