Definitely No Buyer's Remorse, but...
The media could not be loaded. This product is well-designed, as are all AKG products that I've had the good fortune of using. There are a few things that it is helpful to know before purchasing.Pros:- Offers the convenience of home use with your PC, due to USB compatibility- Probably the highest quality microphone with USB support- Solid construction, studio quality diaphragm- Easy installation and compatibility with Windows 7- Produces great audio and extremely sensitive (referenced in cons, as well)- Great for podcasts and for broadcasting on youtube (if you have the required software to capitalize on the use of a separate microphone from the one built-in to your webcam)Cons:- Lack of support for messenger use, due to the overwhelming amount of bandwidth required to transmit such high quality audio.- Inability to incorporate the use of the microphone, while taking video with widely available and free software like that which accompanies Windows Lifecam or Logitech products. (If anyone has found a way to do this, please comment and refute this with a solution, upon which I will modify my review) ;)- Lack of any included software with which to take advantage of the great potential of the microphone, meaning you have to purchase your own recording software to take advantage of what the product has to offer.- The inability to manipulate the directionality of the microphone results in quite noticeable ambient noise. This is negotiable through the use of the built-in -20 db switch, but a pristine audio environment is still needed for live broadcasts, podcasts, etc...Overall:- I would buy this microphone again. In my humble opinion, nothing in the home arena really competes with the functionality of AKG. I'm a fan of their outstanding design quality. The only product that comes close would be the Audiotechnica USB microphone. Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone

Lovely microphone
I was using a USB headset microphone for my LibriVox volunteer work. A few weeks ago, I upgraded to this AKG Perception 120 condenser microphone. It is awesome. It sounds warm and full and has an overall beautiful sound. I'm very happy with this microphone. I should have upgraded a long time ago.One warning: be sure to purchase a stand in the same order. I ordered my stand separately, so I had to hold the microphone while I used it for the first few days. It's a heavy piece of equipment, and my arms got tired very quickly.

great studio mic for the price
I'm using the AKG Perception 120 to both record & perform live. The sound is amazing. Though it's not a top-of-the-line mic (it's under $100 after all) I can definitely say that this is the single best side-access condenser mic for the price. The build quality is amazing. I've used the Perception 220, the step above this one, and honestly with a few small differences (diaphragm size and frequency cutoff) they're essentially the same mic. Both are amazing. The 120 is a bit less adept at recording guitar or stringed instruments, but it's still great. Highly recommended.

Excellent quality and underpriced
I would have valued this mic far above what it is being sold. Right off the bat, the construction is pro grade, all the way. Solid metal, heavy weight and a nice mat bluish silver finish. The sound quality is excellent. It records warm and rich vocals: running through a Digidesign Mbox 2 mini. It picks up every nuance and every breath. It's almost too clear. Haven't used it to record any instruments, only voice in studio. My voice sounds better on this than other mics I've used. Very very impressed. And it was well under $100!

quite acceptable akg condenser mic
for the price, pretty good...recommend using pop filterat all times...for vocals...this mic is super sensitive to air puffs...so the pop thingie is really needed..ok,,, did some recording tests on their 3 mics120 , 220 , 420BIG differences in one aspect !!!!REACH !!!the 120, for example, reaches out to about 6 feet or morecapturing stuff behind the singer...toothe 220 goes out even further...to aobut 10 feet or moreand the 420 omy....this thing goes WAY WAY out...20 feet and beyondso for ME, not a good thing.UNLESS u need that specially deeeeep reach, like to recorda Huge orchestra, then it is FINE....stickto 120 and 220 for non reaching, non orchestra work !can be used on many other instruments toohave fun

Love it!
These are incredibly versatile studio / live mics, better than most others, especially for the price. I'm buying a second one to record groups in stereo, but even in mono it sounds good. The mic is great for just about everything I've recorded, from vocals to horns and drum kits (you'd need stereo for that). If placed correctly, this could be the one mic you use all your life! I have other more expensive mics, but they don't have the multiple abilities this one does! Thanks AKG!
