Q: Can this go on any tripod?

Yes, as long as it has the standard stud, which is just a 1/4 - 20 thread bolt, you can use any standard hardware to attach things. Before I got this I used a piece of angle iron and nuts and bolts.

Q: Can you attach a counterweight?

Yes. For easy of operation of the boom arm I put a sand bag on the tripod leg, this works very well. this is a wonderful boom arm.

Q: Is it compatible with the Newer TM254 model?

It should fit any tripod. You remove the ball head of the tripod and the boom arm screws in in it's place. Then you can use the ball head on the end of the boom arm.

Q: The knob on the part that connects to the tripod is nearly impossible to move. Is this normal?

I haven't experienced that myself. Maybe a little WD-40 or other light lubricant will help.
