75 pounds worth of cooling power
Had to get an AC to tolerate heat this summer & opted for LG after conferring with friend who's worked in HVAC for 7 years. Solid unit. Was heavier than I expected, but does perform well (so far) Was lucky and there was no shipping damage apparent when I got this. Make sure to check the bottom drain and properly seat that rubber plug and gently tighten the screw assembly that snugs it into place before operation.Minor thing I've yet to sort is turning the condenser fan on. I get the ON as it says in the manual but when the appliance is powered off it shuts down instead of hearing a fan run. Will update review should things change or I notice excessive leaks or things negative reviews mention.Update: The 10 minute condenser fan setting comes on if you turn unit off by remote. Doing so on the control panel seems to shut down unit immediately, even with this feature on. It cools below the set point exceedingly well during the daytime; but at night seems to creep up above 70. It also seems to keep the rest of the apartment space from going superhot; despite not being open to the main floor most of the time. So far, I'd recommend this unit based on how solid it's performing. No indicator to empty tank yet; and do wish the access point for that was a bit more reachable. A removable tank would be ideal but I'm not sure if LG's engineers can accomplish such a feat.

If you can't install a window unit, get this portable AC unit
Bought this last summer as a just in case should our central air not be able to keep up with the heat, and our central air died this week and boy was I glad to have this.Out HOA doesn't allow windows units, and this was a well reviewed portable unit.Set it up in about 10 minutes following the clear instructions. They included everything I needed including some insulation strips. Only thing missing was some no residue duct tape to give an extra good seal around the window, but I had some lying around. The unit works great blowing out cold air fast and using the louvers to spread it around. The fan is loud, but certainly no louder than any other portable unit.It kept the bedroom a comfortable temperature even on the hottest of days, and downright chilly at night, just how I like it. I had to use a heavier blanket! While the product overall is great, I think LG could've included an insulated hose sleeve and cut to fit insulation for the window mount, maybe repurposong some of the packing materials for it. These are the two biggest sources of heat getting into a room using this, and that might have helped the unit cool the room down faster using less power. The smartphone app was so easy to use I didn't even touch the included remote control.

Overall I'm satisfied but...
It has only 2 speeds, high and low. The noise level on low is tolerable and I'm learning to sleep with it but on high, it's very noisy. It also makes a thunk sound when the compressor cycles. I set it at 70 in my bedroom and it will run for a few minutes, then shut off, then start again, so I'm hearing this thunk sound quite often. It doesn't make the sound when the compressor kicks back in.The phone app and my Alexa network do control it quite nicely but, I've learned to not touch the remote control if I've used them instead. For a while, I was confused and thought the app or Alexa weren't working. I keep the light on the unit turned off, so after making a setting change I'd later go into the bedroom and pick up the remote to visually check what the settings were - as soon as I turn the remote on it would override whatever settings I'd previously made with Alexa, making me believe that neither Alexa nor the app was actually making any change in the settings. I've learned to just leave the remote alone. I suspect others who have complained of the app and Alexa not working properly may have been doing what I was. This was a replacement for another AC of a different brand that I had to return, after that AC made my room smell strongly of mildew. This AC doesn't cool as well as that other one did, I have to run it on high to bring the temp of the room down, but it maintains it ok once there and I set the unit on low. It doesn't make the room smell and having the benefit of using an Echo beside my bed, or anywhere in the house to control it, is an ok trade-off for me.Haven't had it long enough to rate its energy efficiency. Waiting to see how my next electric bill is then will update.

Camping Lifesaver
We LOVED this on our camping trip! It was close to 100 degrees and we have a tent, I had tried the small water cooled ones, no help whatsoever! This made us so comfortable, the air was cold and crisp, super unit! The only disadvantage was trying to balance the air flow, it’s so strong, it was pulling our tent inside out lol. Quick fix, just open a zipper, things were fine. We had power at our site and it never tripped the breaker, it did trip the surge protector, that’s our fault tho. All in all, saved the days and the nights which would’ve been unbearable without it.

Broke after 6 months
Do not purchase. Unit stopped working 6 months after I bought it, and LG does not warranty or assist. Unit will only work in fan mode, there is no cooling at all. After spending 4 hours on support chat with LG, I was told the unit was rated as too small for my 100sq ft space, and therefore they would not be assisting in repairing or replacing the unit. The size of room the unit is in has nothing to do with it being able to cool air. The compressor is not running, and the air coming out of the unit is the same temperature as the ambient air. This unit worked for less than 6 months, and is now useless for cooling my space. Stay far away from this product and apparently the rest of the LG A/C products.

Good but LOUD
The unit arrived on time and has done a great job of cooling our room, however it is LOUD. Considerably much more louder than our 14000 BTU window unit from LG. We were having a hard time finding a vertical unit that would fit our window so we went with this instead, had it installed in under 10 minutes which was great. We were planning on keeping it in the bedroom, but our dog is scared from the noise it makes so we’ll see how long it lasts, may have to switch to a different unit
