Instructions are correct.
5/5 stars. It works exactly as stated. Ignore all the comments stating that the wiring instructions are wrong. I received the motor with 4 wires, and followed the instructions, red and black go to your battery, yellow and white go to the exact spots on the receiver as shown in the instructions. The only addition I'd have to those instructions is that you must turn it on, then off, then back on. After turning it on the 2nd time, that's when the motor beeps 3 times and then works as normal. It took a few tries to figure that out.

Dont buy unless you don't need instructions that are correct.
Product arrived in generic white box(which was open) with no paperwork or instructions. It comes with a motor and 4 screws. Nothing else. The "instructions" on the Amazon page are flat out wrong. There is a white wire that comes out of the motor but it is not reference in the "instructions". I decided rather than cross-wiring it and burning the thing up, its easier to return and never buy this brand again. You would think whomever is managing this category at Amazon would have the novel thought of requiring correct instructions.

Works great. Standard PWM controlled thruster.
So this thruster could be confusing if you’ve never worked with RC electronics before, but it uses a standard ESC that is plug and play with a standard RC transceiver.Hook the red and black wires to 12v hot and ground respectively. Hook the yellow wire to the signal (S) pin on your RC receiver. Make sure your receiver is using a common ground with the thruster. After turning on your receiver, the thruster should play a tone that indicates that it has been initialized. It just worked for me.I used this thruster to propel a standup paddle board controlled via an esp32 and later a normal RC receiver. At 100% PWM at 12v, it goes a little faster than a strong paddle. At around 60%, I can keep up with a casual paddler.

Just too small for my application. Thank you Amazon. They are powerful.u Amazon.
Theyre too small. Powerful, yes, but too small. Good size for an rc bait/fishing boat.

Bang for the buck
It has a lot of power and cheap enough. The complain I have is no BEC. Follow the instruction come with and you are good to go.

Kinda Funky
I was hopeful for this Diamond Dynamics thruster because it has an attached ESC, which was appealing for my project. However, I was never able to power up the thruster from a Raspberry Pi. The thruster would power up using the HiLetGo Servo Tester, but not from the Pi. After much machinations to get it working, the ESC finally failed. Then, purchasing two standalone ESCs and one new ESC-less thuster (APISQUEEN U2 Mini), and removing the ESC from the Diamond Dynamics thruster, all combinations of ESCs and thusters immediately worked fine from the Pi. Note to Pi users, the 3.3V logic output needs to be bumped up to 5.0V, I used the HiLetGo TXS0108E Level Converter. Bottom line is that I can't recommend this product, it might work for you, but I'd say its not worth the trouble to find out.

hopefully this helps others. The wiring descreption and even anwsers to questions are incorect
***update I was wrong. Just ignore the white wire. I don't know why I get 5v to ground off the signal wire. Tried to power my arduino off off it and it falls to 1v. Poor ground isolation. Ignored the white wire and used to yellow as signal and all is working now. They really really need to update the listing and wiring diagram. The wiring description is incorrect. The listing clearly states that the esc does not come with a BEC. What ever model they are shipping now does in fact have a BEC. There are four wires off the esc. The yellow wire in 5v to ground. It is not the signal wire as described. The white wire is the signal and the yellow is 5v. I blew a $30 Arduino discovering this. I’m giving 3 stars instead of 1 because this actually helps me not needing a BEC or voltage buck in my project.
