Interesting
This was an interesting read. I knew the stories of some of the creatures included, but was happy to learn about those that I didn't. This is one book that I would happily share with all members of my family.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

So interesting!
I love books about myths and legends from ancient societies you can learn so much by what tales they told and passed down. Mythical creatures too hold a place in my heart. I firmly believe that there were dragons yes I know what you are saying but what if some dinosaurs lived and mutated gators are living descendents of dinosaurs. Many myths have a bases of truth to them that why it is so great to read a book like this. It makes you wonder and think. Great work this one is as good as the first book I am so glad I have both in my library.

History lesson
Dont read this at night. The illustrations and descriptions of these creatures may cause a nightmare. You will learn a lot of details about other cultures as the monsters detailed are from a wide range. I would definitely recommend this book.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Informative and Varied
“While one cannot call a myth a truth in the true sense of the word, the best way to explain it would be that mythology was often a perspective- or a version of the truth.” As it had before, Vol 2 of Mr. Stone’s mythology series gives a brief overview of what makes a myth- as well as the differences between folklore and mythology. It’s a nice opener to the compendium that follows, as I settled down to read more. I rather enjoyed Vol 1, giving it a three out of five. This time around, the categories are the same, but the range of creatures and beasts were much more elusive and unheard of. One of my favorites ended up being the first; Jorōgumo of Japan. There isn’t much to say about this novel- it’s not all that different from the first I reviewed. There are the same categories, and it still hits about a 3/5 for me. However, there were an even larger number of creatures I had never heard of- and I still love how varied Mr. Stone makes it, including creatures from Norse, African, Aztec, Finnish, Persian, Slavic, and even more ancient origins. I love the amount of research that had to have gone into this- I wouldn’t even know where to start on half of these. I think if someone is looking for a book that has creatures beyond the norm, myths they’ve never heard of even if they’re seasoned in mythology, this is a good book to start with. Now… I have to go write a story with a Jorōgumo.

Interesting to read and great illustrations
I bought volumes 1 and 2 together as I am currently working on a project based on the myths and folklore of the world. I came across these when browsing amazon for books and bought them as they had illustrations. The books are set out great as the creatures are in sections according to type, which is helpful. The illustrations are lovely and following the code in the book, I was able to get the colouring book for volume one for free. Very impressed with both volumes.

A unique and a perfect read!
The title itself states about the mythical beasts and creatures which we saw in movies and wonder if they really exists in real life or not.The book was a complete different genre for me and an interesting one to explore. The book is divided into six sections. Each setions has no of chapters which have the description of different mythical besats and creatures with an example of their origin and describes what it reflcets in ancient times.Reading about them was such an interesting thing.Origins of these mythological creatures are from Greek mythology, Japanese mythology, Hindu mythology, there are tales narrated by the author under each mythical creatures that actually gives me goosebumps and wonder if they actually exists. And wonder what actually made the writer write about these creatures and beasts.Coming to the cover and the title of the book:The title looks attractive and interesting too cover could have been more attractive.Narration:A + point for the narrative part, it was a quick read for me every chapter was limited and fast paced no lengthy narrations. The stories about the origin of the mythical creatures and beasts were intetesting and something new to reflect on.Plot:The book contains description of mythical creatures and besats originated from various origin like Japanese, Hindu, Greek and many more.Overall a unique and a wonderful read it was!

Gripping tale!
As the title ‘MYTHICAL CREATURES AND MAGICAL BEASTS’ suggests, this is a folklore about different monsters from folktales, folklores and Mythology. The book while highlighting different ancient cultures, provides the reader with ideas about the origin of different mythical creatures. Zayden Stone has divided the book into 35 chapters and 6 main sections:1.Anthropoda2.An Ancient Aviary3.Cryptic Canines4.The Eternal Hiss5.The Unusual Ungulates6.Aquatic BeastsPlacing the creatures into a particular section makes it easier for the reader to understand the story. However, at some points in the story there is an overlapping of the themes but it only strengthens one’s understanding of the world.Eye-catching cover, easy language, gripping story, and vivid illustrations make it an interesting read. Although I haven’t read part-1 yet I nowhere felt that I was missing out on some backstory. Thus, if you are into mythology or mythical creatures excite you, then you should definitely read this book!
