Yeah replacement
Cost perfect. My main set died AGAIN! And at 400.00 to replace it again they can go whistle for their dinner. I'm done with them. Those sets never last more than one season when carving a 10'Lx4'Wx4"thick times 3 story Christmas village housing background display styrofoam. And that's for my personal home use. I'm not doing a commercial set up. The only thing I did run into is you have to turn it off periodically as the handle does get a tad hot. But still easy to use.

It does the job
I bought this kit in the hopes of precisely cutting PE foam using templates for gun case inserts. The number of different attachments and wattage were the big selling points. When it arrived, I was excited but that quickly turned to disappointment. The elements simply were not getting hot... even after a 10 minute warm up period. After some head scratching, troubleshooting and review of the included instructions, it became clear what I was doing wrong. I really didn't understand the instructions when they said "2.5 grids", "5 grids", etc. What this refers to are the dashes or bars on the power supply dial. I was turning the knob too far and applying too much voltage. So starting at minimum, increase the voltage (turn the dial clockwise) to achieve a bright red LED and stop when the LED begins to blink. Then turn the knob back a little bit so the LED is solid. The elements heat up within a few seconds and do a great job of cutting the foam. Another tip: have a brass brush handy as you cut the foam to clean the elements. Foam tends to stick to the elements which makes cuts less precise. Note that I have not use the wire cutter attachment as of yet so I can't comment on its use.

Cheaply made
After a couple hours of use the plug now has a short in it. I have to hold the plug in the handle so it works. Worked great the first few hours. Went back the second day and it was shotty.

Garbage
Straight up garbage , this thing is for the lightest thinnest of foam cutting if anything. It never heats up past the middle setting , I have sat and waited for an hour and it never got past half setting which is useless. It's not a good product at all.Could cut any Ridgid foam that I had with any of the tips smallest to longest.Super disappointing.

Not such a Good deal...
Everything initially worked fine. But the third time I tried it, it just stopped working! The controller quit and wouldn't turn on again.

It's a wire, just not so hot. UPDATE!!!
Simple foam cut, wasn't up to the task. Sourced a very very similar product with a black power switch and an LED readout and it was noticably better at all tasks.UPDATE ----USE THE TEMP SET AS DESCRIBED HERE ---TURN UP TO THE LIGHTS COME ON THEN BACK IT DOWN, WIRE WILL GLOW, KEEP TURNING DOWN TILL ITS JUST HOT AND CUT.
