One of the better gaming laptops
The keyboard does get a little toasty while gaming, so I pair it with the IETS GT500 forced air cooling pad, and with that combo the laptop stays around 55-65c, I didn't pay much attention to what it was while gaming without the pad but it doesn't melt my fingers mid-game now. I don't think forced air cooling will damage the fan bearings, but use at your own risk.I had a slight issue with the screen looking washed out so I had to use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to remove the integrated graphics drivers, then uninstall some MSI color program, then let windows reinstall the integrated graphics drivers through the windows update screen. After that, I had an issue with Geforce Experience not wanting to install the dedicated gpu drivers. Annoying but not a problem, went to DDU again to uninstall nvidia drivers, then found something called "NVCleaninstall" to add ONLY the drivers needed and not geforce experience or their other unnecessary bloatware that runs in the background, highly recommend looking into that, might squeeze out a few more frames per second on any pc, just make sure to do your research on what exactly your setup needs or what features you want.I'll probably upgrade the RAM to 32gb or so, but the default ram isn't so bad, worth upgrading if you want to use the laptop for 3d modeling, music production, or maybe a bit more intensive gaming. Not sure if it's MSI or Windows but there was a lot of bloatware to remove after initial setup x.xAll in all, it's been great after the initial setup headaches, no other issues so far, games run super smooth.

Great quality and performance at a great price
This was not the first MSI notebook I have purchased. I had an older Stealth that I loved, so when it came time to replace my Alienware that was getting a little long in the tooth, I found the perfect replacement here. Great quality, great performance and a price that saved me money rather than buying the latest Alienware 17. You won't be disappointed.

Great computer
It’s a great computer. Has a very large power supply for such a powerful computer. I put a heavy load on it as a designer and the battery lasts about 2 hours on its own before having to recharge. A little bit heavy for travel, but any good computer always is.

The specs are correct, RGB lighting much dimmer than pictured
As some have noted, Amazon has the wrong model number listed which might create an issue if you needed to return, but the specs as shown are correct. The difference is the 12UHS has twice the RAM and hard drive space than the 12UGS. Otherwise these are the same laptop. For the $400 price increase for the 12UHS, is it cheaper to upgrade the RAM and SSD yourself. This thing is a gaming beast and you will not be disappointed in it's performance. Testing the CPU speed shows it goes to 4.2 Ghz under load. The screen is a true 240hz monitor with no significant motion ghosting and is bright with no obvious dark zones or flash lighting. The UFO screen test shows crisp graphics at the promised refresh rate. The speakers are above average for a laptop. There are two tweeter/mids on each side of the keyboard top and two side firing subs which go down to about 100hz. The result is a good clear sound stage with warm sound. The highest volume level might not cut it in a noisy environment tho.Start up is fast and applications load very quickly. The bad which soured my over all rating:Disappointed in the RGB lighting. Controlling it is not easy even with the software needed to change per key or whole lighting effects. No where in the app is a control for keyboard brightness and the supposed short cut key combo has no effect on the brightness level. Pretty much useless unless you are playing in the dark. Out of the box they keys are dim as is the front bar that is shown to be glowing brightly in the product images. I was able to adjust the bar brightness successfully, but the brightest setting isn't bright at all. Definitely a case of false advertising by MSI. Now of course you don't buy a gaming laptop for the bling, but is a sin to over promise and under deliver especially at the 2k price point. If you are choosing this over other gaming laptops for the RGB lighting, choose something else.Windows 11 is horrible. It took a lot of work to get it to look like I wanted to, especially the taskbar, but was worth it, mostly. This isn't MSI's fault, but Windows 10 would have been better as it is more customizable.

Expensive but Fast! Great machine!
I have had this machine for almost a year. This is my first MSI machine. I have been an exclusive ASUS buyer since the 1990's puchasing 40-50 motherboards for computer building and owned 3 ASUS Laptops before puchasing this beast. I tried 2 ASUS laptops before this one in the same price range and had nothing but problems with them. I ended up returning them.My keyboard stopped lighting up. I sent it back to MSI and had it back within a week. It ended up bing a firmware issue that they resolved. The only con I have with this machine is that it gets very loud. The fans are not silent at all. While it's not an issue at home, I could see where it would be a problem in public.
