Great combo travel set!
I took it to Italy/Sicily for 3 weeks and it performed well, including 6 airports, 8 hotels, 2 trains and lots of bumpy, uneven terrain. The zipping/unzipping was smooth and the backpack was larger than just a daypack, which I used daily. Coupled with the carry-on they provided enough room for clothes and toiletries for 3 weeks. Both parts were accepted as carry-on for international flights. I liked the exterior straps to "squish" the carry-on. The materials and zippers are sturdy and well constructed. Also, in addition to the popup handle, there are other conveniently located padded handles for easy transport.

Great combination for travel
This convertible travel bag is perfect for airline travel. The wheeled section fits in the overhead in almost every airline. Possibly not the little ones in first class but I always fly coach so it's the best for travel. The smaller backpack part easily fits under the seat. You can take clothes for a week and still have room. I purchased one for my wife and she loved it so I had to get myself one.

Nice bag, here are my opinions
I just received it and these are my first impressions.I travel about 75% of the year and I am very rough on my luggage. I had outgrown my High Sierra rolling backpack. I am not one to wear a backpack so I prefer rolling backpacks.I originally ordered the Hynes Eagle equivalent of this bag but I wasn't 100% pleased with it so I ordered this Hypath bag to compare and see which one I'd keep and which one I'd return. I am not here to knock either bag, I am just sharing my opinions. The Hynes Eagle bag was great, but not for what I required. You can see my review on that Hynes Eagle product page but the biggest complaints I had were that the small bag was too small and did not have not enough pockets and it kept tipping over once the 2 bags were attached. So on this Hypath 2 in 1 bag, I'm pleased with the size of the small bag, it is a bit larger than the Hynes Eagle has plenty of room for my company issued 15 inch brick of a laptop. It didn't go in snug like the Haynes Eagle. It also had more pockets for better organization of the multitude small crap I carry. The Hynes Eagle, just had 2 pockets, 1 in the outside and 1 in the inside, so I'd have to fumble through the pockets to find whatever I was searching for.The big bag is about the same size as the Hynes Eagle bag, it has plenty of storage for all the crap I carry and I have room to spare. No real issues on it.Once I inserted my monster sized 15 inch work laptop and a couple of file folders and legal pads and my small junk into the small bag, I attached it to the big bag to see if it would stand up right without falling forward. I put my normal crap in the big bag like my bag of chargers and cables, headphones, portable scanner, etc. Well It did fall forward a little and rested on the attached small bag but stood up for the most part. unlike the Haynes Eagle that would tip all the way forward to the point where it was laying horizontal on it's front. Now what I'm not crazy about, the outside material is like a nylon, kind of like a windbreaker material. Seems very outdoorsy, not for the business casual environments I work in. The Hynes eagle seems to be a nicer material. Also also color was more appealing as to this bag that is solid black. They Hynes eagle offered 2 colors, a greyish blue which I ordered and a sold black. It would have been nice to have at lease a couple of color choices on this bag.Again I'd like to emphasize I am not knocking this bag or the Haynes Eagle. They both seem to be great bags, I'm just comparing them and sharing my opinion to help you make a decision.

Nice bag
Bought this bag for official travel - testing different bags. This carryon has a backpack that can detach from actual carry-on. Backpack option for the actual carryon as well (so basically this can be 2 backpacks). Over all i do like this bag. Personally, i think it has some room for improvement but it is still seems very good.Pro- Carry-on1. Materials seem durable, wheels are smooth, good space in the main compartment, compression straps inside and outside a plus. Also, has large front pocket and large mesh pocket inside.2. Carryon does have the backpack straps option that hides well and hip belt for weight distribution. Also, has padding that extends over the bottom (wheels portion).3. Doesn't tip over.Pro Backpack1. Has separate space for laptop and soft material for an iPad or similar. 2 large compartments with pockets in the backpack.2. Love the rain cover that is integrated to top of backpack.3. Has sternal strap and compression straps to sides of the pack.4. Has 2 straps for placing on carryon handle.Cons: Carry- on:1. Main compartment doesn't open completely it has a internal webbing like feature to bottom which makes it difficult to pack and the top cover flops over and gets in the way and there is limited visibility to bottom of pack.2. No rain cover for the carryon portion.3. Telescoping handle seems a little wobbly but its holding up so far.4. No option for expansion for extra space. (you know for the over packers - me!)Cons Backpack:1. Some of the pockets are deep but very hard to reach bottom (even my small hand doesn't fit)2. Could have some mesh pockets on the inside of the first pocket/flap portion.3. No key lanyard

A fine piece of kit.
It is a well made and designed capacious piece of luggage using what appear to be tough materials and fixings. Need to find a way of tucking the various straps away more easily when transitioning back and forth between back pack and wheeled as they tend to drag on the floor which I envisage being when in an airport getting on and off escalators. But that is something I guess for V4.0! My use will be predominantly short to medium haul but I can see exactly why the global traveller will like it too. For me it will enable me to miss the check in queues and baggage reclaim whilst still being able to take enough clothes on trips as well as have the laptop bag for the office.

This bag is everything you want it to be
I can't believe this bag exists! It makes other bags look stupid. For every stress you might get when hauling around your luggage, the bag has a clever solution. If you're getting tired, wheel it. If you need to fit it into an awkward space, take the smaller bag off. Taking it on a journey recently, removed all the stress out of travel. No straining to throw it over your shoulder and the two bag system means it can come apart to fit into all sorts of spaces.Truly revolutionary!
