Must have if you install and work on solar systems! Great for testing used panels also!
The media could not be loaded. So far loving this. I purchased the 1600 watt version. I am installing solar and at times diagnosing systems this is a must have. I was just given a 400 watt suitcase panel that will pay for this device that was found in the trash restore said it was running perfect despite what looked to be damage to the untrained eye had two snail trails someone threw out a 500 dollar panel I now have for sale on marketplace for 2.5x this tester's cost super excited! Will update if I run into any issues!I gave it a 4 star because if you don’t have an mc4 removal tool you’d have a heck of a time using this. Now if your buying this chances are 99% you have an mc4 removal tool and if not there very inexpensive.

Used like new... no workee
I bought this as a "used, like new" deal to test individual solar panels that are 24v 100w. Screen never came on. I had read reviews and they seem good, so I'd think twice about buying some used item deals.

Works exactly as described!
Works great. I shaved the safety clips off the MC4 connectors for ease of use. They were a pain to unclip for every panel.

Does a good job

For testing a single panel
People testing *strings* of panels with these are dumb. The device clearly states it is good for a voltage range fo 20-60V.... so that means 1 panel with Voc under 60V. Not a string of panels > 600V or more potentially of COURSE they blow up when overloaded. The only way you could test several panels with this is in parallel, so the voltages never exceed 60V.

Well, that didn't last long...
In optimal conditions, total wattage for the array would be 1170W, unit is "rated" to 1600W...Plugged the unit in, flipped the disconnect to the "ON" position, heard "snap, crackle and pop", saw some smoke and that was all she wrote...MY recommendation, not worth it...
