VIGOROUS MOUNTAINS Dried Shiitake Mushrooms for Cooking, 2-3CM Dehydrated Mushrooms, Dry Fresh Vegan No Fumigation Sulfur (1.5Oz)

I keep a variety of dried mushrooms in my pantry for times when I can’t find the type I want in the grocery store. These dried Shitakes are very good and unfortunately not always available in the grocery store.

I have never purchased dried mushrooms before. They arrived within 3 days, packaging intact. These mushrooms are quite small, I'm guessing they were harvested before they opened up. Mine were not expired and they had really good taste.People keep talking about how they were really hard after the followed directions and boiled them for 30 minutes. I'm really, they didnt follow the directions as well as they thought.. you do not boil them. You let them sit in warm water/very lightly simmer them (I had them on the 2nd stove setting). When you boil them, the outside over cooks and the inside doesnt rehydrate.After 30 minutes I sliced them up. Still too chewy, I let them soak another 15 minutes then I added them to a soup I was making, where they simmered with vegetables as bles another 30 - 40 minutes. By the time the soup was done, the mushrooms were perfect.I do reccomend rinsing the mushrooms when you pull them out to slice up. Also, I used a coffee filter to filter any debris from the vroth/water I rehydrated them in.You gotta keep the both. They likely would not have been as tasty if I just drained the water instead of adding it to my soup.I got a lovely broth from them. Will definitely use this for many soups in the future. Tge flavor was great, it was nice and savory sort of reminicint of teriyaki and garlic with a very slight nutty flavor. Not sure why some people said they tasted horrendous.. maybe quality controlnisnt the best, or maybe it was just how they cooked with them.

I was apprehensive because I read a review about the product being nasty and like poop. I saw that after I purchased it and I said well I will give it a try. The verdict , it is really good and tasty. I am used to dehydrated mushrooms and the key is just hydrate it properly. I put warm water in the mushrooms left it about 15 minutes and it looked like a fresh Shitake mushroom. Yes it is smaller than I am use used to but the taste made up for it . I am glad I bought 2 because it not available now. I am sure to buy it again and I recommend buying it.

These are handy. They have a very strong Shiitake flavor. I like them!

Small mushrooms. From China. Unsure safety and quality standards in place. Not returnable, of course. I’ll be looking for a different source for next order.

Loved these! Easy to rehydrate and versatile for cooking, making broth/stocks, etc. They came sealed well and I’d say were worth the price, they don’t have a weird texture and taste good!

These are uniformly small shitake mushrooms. Each is a little larger in diameter than a quarter. I'm used to larger, flatter dried shiitakes. The flavor is not as pronounced as others I've had. I usually buy Dynasty brand in yellow bag. Great container. I have not used them all. Maybe once I have used the container I will have a better gauge of the flavor and whether I will reorder. I use these in oriental soups and roasted veggie combos.
