so far so good...fence is working
has hole to thread the wires into for security. Not wild about the plug in.

powerful shock, with 12 volt option.
Electric Fence Changer, 2 Joules/10.5kV - Electric Fence for Livestock, Electric Fence Energizer for 7 Mile/50 Acres, Plug-in Electric Fence Power Supply for Wildlife Prevention, Farm, Poultry, GardenElectric Fence Changer, 2 Joules/10.5kV - Electric Fence for Livestock, Electric Fence Energizer for 7 Mile/50 Acres, Plug-in Electric Fence Power Supply for Wildlife Prevention, Farm, Poultry, GardenThis is a plug in (120 volt AC) powered electric fence charger with an option for a 12 volt battery. We live on a ranch and have several fence chargers operating at all times. This is a fairly high energy charger with 2 joules of power. Most of our chargers need to run on solar because of their locations away from a power source. We do need them around the barn areas though and this one is perfect for either application. It provides a big shock which is important to us, because we want the livestock to learn quickly to just leave the fences alone. This unit does that very well. Installation was easy. You’ll need a ground rod(or several, depending on distance) and wire for hook ups. This unit is also good for movable electric fences for rotational grazing, especially with a small solar panel and lithium ion battery. The price is about what I would expect for this quality charger so yes, I’m happy with it.

Great fence charger
This worked perfectly for the electric fencing that we have around our quail aviary. We didn't need anything too crazy but we have a few owls that were getting a little too close for comfort and they were BIG owls. We read that shocking seems to be the most effective way to deal with them, we noticed on our camera they got shocked about 2.5 weeks ago and we haven't seen them back yet. Fingers crossed this keeps them away!

2 Joules – enough for goats, most horses. Too light for wild hogs.
This is a great fence charger for shorter electric fence applications, with more sensitive animals. If you have tall grass, or really long wire runs, you’ll need more power.I’m using this charger on a 400-foot conductive rope application with 4 rows. All the grass is mowed and weed whacked. There are no shorts via conductive grasses or plant material. Once the horse is aware of the fence, they never really test it again. We’ll be trying goats soon, and I’m hoping this charger will work there also. I’m pretty sure we will be fine.Honestly. I haven’t tested it with the wild hogs. I use a 12-joule unit to keep them out of the tree nursery. I hope that continues to work. I may test this unit in a small area as an experiment. So far, I like it and see it as a good value. I’ll purchase another for the hog test soon.

Seems to work alright
I originally ordered this for keeping black bears away from my bee yard. The set up for this is fairly easy and everything seems good quality. I'm not sure if it works for bears or not because so far we haven't seen any come around. But I'm fairly confident it's zap them enough to scare them away.

Hits hard works well
Super simple setup. Literally, plug and go. We used this on our premier one fence that we decided to pretty much keep in one spot. and we got this because we wanted our garden electrified.

Flexible Power Source Charger
Product Reviewed: Electric Fence Power Supply, 6.5 Mile/40 Acres Electric Fence Controller – currently $72 with $12 coupon.TL;DR; 110V power Adapter or Battery; low voltage monitor; Max’s out my fence testerThis is a nice compact design and includes a wall wart to barrel connector for grid power or a set of clips to the same for a 12V battery.I really like having a low voltage measurement on the fencer to you can get a sense of battery health. I look at current draw on my bench supply seems to indicate modest current that spikes at < 500 mA during the normal cycling. My fence tester goes to 9.9kv which it maxes out.Like most fencers I’d not be inclined to leave this one outside without some kind of robust cover. There are no fancy features like fault detection. This is just a basic fencer. No surprises here very nice and compact design.4.5 starsHow I review:Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points.- 0 for value but I try to provide guidance-0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel-0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on executionI select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. If possible I dismantle or destroy items to examine inner workings.

Great for horses
With two very persistent horses, this electric fence charger provides just enough hit to ensure they don't push against the fence and cause damage to the fence or themselves. Since having this installed, they have not caused any damage to the fencing. This is a reliable product that performs extremely well and provides much needed results. If this works for horses, it would quite likely work well for cattle and certainly work for goats and pigs. Overall, the price is very fair for a product of this quality and ease of use.
