Solid addition to my 2019 F-150 Lariat
I added a K&N cold air intake to a car of mine (a Mazda 3 GT-S) a few years back after driving that car for a few years. Right away I noticed the increased 'pep' in the car, the improved gas mileage and the 'growl' of the engine, especially when accelerating. When I purchased a new Ford F-150 Lariat, I checked to see whether or not I could expect similar results by adding a K&N CAI.I only had the truck about 2 weeks when I added this, so the OEM air filter looked brand new when I took it out (anybody need one?) but as soon as I installed it, there was that growl and I actually did see - assuming the in-dash info screen is correct - an uplift in MPG of about 15% once I'd driven for a while.Installation is pretty straightforward and I'm certainly not an auto mechanic. Just follow the instructions. Moving the inlet air temperature sensor from the original setup into this is a bit of a pain (be careful!) but once that's done and everything is moved into position and tightened up you're good to go. All in, installation took about 1/2 hour. At the time of purchase, there was a rebate which made this an even sweeter deal.Update August 22, 2019:My truck started showing the Check Engine Light ("CEL") so I used an OBD2 reader to find out why. The code that was being generated was P04DB which an online search showed was likely related to adding the intake. I called K&N customer service, explained what was going on to "Joel", gave him the P04DB code and he knew right away what to do. He sent (express shipping) a small metal tube which you can see in the center of the second image I added to this review. In the image it's sticking out by about 5/8" because it's too long. Another chat with Joel and he advised to cut the tube down to the appropriate length which I did with a hacksaw and then used fine sandpaper to make the edge smooth. Once that was done and the metal tube was installed, I cleared the code and the CEL went away and it hasn't come back.Somewhat disappointing that this had to be done, but I have to give kudos to K&N support for knowing right away what the resolution would be and express shipping the needed part so I could install it before leaving for a long driving trip. Still a 5-star part and overall experience to me. Hopefully this will help someone else with a similar issue.2019 Ford F150 Lariat, 3.5L V6 w/ EcoBoost

Great product for 2017 F150 3.5L Ecoboost!
Easy to install, came with clear, easy to follow instructions and included a pigtail wiring extension for the Intake Air Temp sensor. Everything fit like a glove, the clamps are an upgrade over the stock ones (go from 7mm stock ones to 8mm K&N ones) Since driving hundreds of miles with the intake, I noticed a little better throttle response, I like the sound of the engine with this intake, and my overall MPG went slightly up (maybe 1mpg)Recently I ordered a SCT tuner with 3 of the 5 star tuning tunes on it, waiting for it to arrive in the mail and that should really bring the power out of this 3.5L Ecoboost, but that’s for another review.

Works Great
Originally, I purchased a cold air system from AFE. The video made it look simple to install but I noticed immediately that this was not the case. It required a number of adjustments to the connectors and filters. After the installation, I could not get rid of code P04DB even when using the plastic straw they supplied. On the other hand K&N was very simple to install and is engineered much better than the AFE. The horsepower has increased and the growl when you hit the accelerator is great.

Looks good, sounds great, but that’s about it.
Installed this kit on a 2018 expedition limited. It was easy enough to assemble and install and it definitely made the engine sound a little meaner. I can also hear the turbos a lot better. Added bonus, I’ve had the kit installed for almost a month now and no check engine light. All in all it’s a good product and feels well built but I think it’s way over priced, here’s why:Firstly, I don’t notice any horsepower or fuel efficiency gains. If they are there, they are pretty marginal. I think to get the most out of this kit you need to tune the computer also.Secondly, the gasket material supplied with the kit for the underside of the air box attachment only goes on 2 sides, not all 4, and it doesn’t even go all the way across the sides it does go on, so, there are spaces for that hot engine bay air to get in to the air filter. Additionally, the brackets where the OEM air box clamps attach to the K&N air box attachment (or heat shield) are just cut from the box and bent down, leaving large openings for....you guessed it, more hot air to get in. In my opinion, for almost $300, they could have designed the heat shield a lot better, I mean, even the OEM air box is more or less sealed. The top of the heat shield has a gasket that runs all the way around, effectively sealing the top when you close the hood, but what’s the point if hot air is just getting in from the bottom?Last complaint, my first order never showed up. After about 3 weeks I was able to request a replacement, and to Amazon’s credit, they gave me a $5 credit to use on my next order. The replacement still showed up more than 7 days after it was promised so not sure what the deal is with shipping this particular product. Oh I lied, there’s one more draw back to this kit. It’s not CARB compliant. So when the FIPK version does come out, you’ll likely have to pay an extra $50 or so just for a kit with a CARB sticker in it.Overall, I’d buy it again just because I can and it does look and sound pretty cool.

Perfect for my Ecoboost
A couple of pieces were a little bit of a pain but for the most part pretty simple and easy! Install was very easy!! And the look is much better than the factory one. Also have noticed a big difference in mileage so definitely a win win! Glad I got this!
