Effective, well made muzzle
As a former Police K-9 Unit handler and trainer I've had the opportunity to use a variety of muzzles on the German Shepherd's that we primarily worked with. These were very strong and highly motivated dogs that would initially do everything in their power to dislodge or rip off the muzzle. Lightly constructed and poorly designed muzzles were quickly destroyed or torn off. We relied on specially designed muzzles by a custom manufacturer that specialized in equipment that was purpose built for the most demanding Police K-9 applications. Those muzzles would cost nearly $200 dollars and were well worth it when we needed to rely on them to be "slip proof" and stay in place to keep our unprotected training "quarry" safe when working officer protection sequences. When I searched for a properly designed and constructed muzzle for the German Shepherd I'm currently working with in protection training I found this Mayerzon "Basket" muzzle to be Best of Breed! It is properly designed to be robust enough for the demanding work intended while still allowing ample room for the dog to breath and pant, which is an absolute necessity. The strength of the straps and the quick attach and release clips are superior to the small metal belt type buckles used on previous generation muzzles. They allow rapid on/off fitting by the handler that reduces the stress for both dog and handler that fiddling with a metal pin type buckle requires. Initially the dog will resist application of the muzzle and having to wrestle it while finding the correct hole to buckle into is unnecessarily difficult. The material used in the muzzle is tough enough to resist abrasion and tearing under the great stresses it is subjected to in high intensity training, yet it remains pliable enough to not cause irritation and sores to the nose and lips of the dog.I was most pleased with the very affordable price of this excellent muzzle and even more impressed with the no-nonsense customer care and support offered by Mayerzon. Not only do they provide a life time warranty but they back up unconditionally their fitting chart by offering a no cost replacement muzzle should the one ordered not be the correct size for your dog.In my opinion you won't find a better muzzle at any price with the high quality of design, materials, construction and manufacturer support that is provided by this Mayerzon Basket muzzle.

Some design issues but works well will some alterations.
The muzzle itself serves its purpose and is pretty durable. I had two issues with this product. Although I measured my dog the size I got was just not big enough. I returned and got the next size up. Please note, read the pamphlet that comes with the muzzle! If I had done so before returning it I would have seen the I didn't need to return the muzzle and the company (not Amazon) would replace the new size for free! My second issue was that the buckle that adjusts the strap that runs between their eyes kept coming undone due to my dog rubbing his face/ muzzle on the ground. Once this strap comes off he can get the basket off of his snout/ mouth even though the strap around his head is still on and the muzzle is still attached to my dog (at least he doesn't lose it) I solved this problem by sewing the strap to itself once it was at the proper adjustment so the strap wouldn't slip out of the buckle, which is actually not a buckle but I don't know what else to call it. If this strap had a small actual buckle, like the head strap does that would solve the problem. I'm sure there is no problem with this if the dog isn't trying to get the darn thing off. All in all the product did its job once I sewed it and is durable and breathable.

Perfect fit
After looking through the highs and the lows of the reviews I bought it for my 40lb golden puppy. Her nose is longer so my biggest hope to this thing working was the fit over durability since it is supposed to do what it does in the name and for the item it is. I want to leave a compliment on the perfect fit! I didn't have to make adjustments. I put it on her and she went wild trying to get break out but after a while she gave up.I bought this because my girl is an aggressive chewer and biter. She will try to get anything she can touch! The muzzle isn't to torture her or punish her but teach her guidance in listening to my commands so she knows who is boss around here. With the muzzle on she's less destructive and she has listened more than before. Hopefully with time we can remove it completely! The muzzle is hard plastic so I am slightly worried about durability however she is always watched when she has it on and she hasn't chewed through it. The straps sit well for it being a breakaway lock. For its purpose and good practices this muzzle came through! I recommend.

Sizing is wrong
The product was ok but sizing is not right. My dog was able to use his paws and pull the muzzle right off of his head. I should’ve ordered an extra large muzzle and not the large. Now I’m stuck with a muzzle that I cannot use.

Great "be nice" mask
I bought this for my Euro Dobermann thinking it was going to be the answer to my 90 lbs/1 yr old boy eating the interior of my Chevy Trailblazer. I don't know if I would trust him "alone" with this in the truck. He's smart and could pull a Houdini in no time...sooo...yeah. I think I'll get a stronger leather one for that, but that being said, this is a very nice muzzle if your dog will be with you. It's light weight and comfortable for them, yet it's really pretty tough and designed so they can receive treats through it and lap water if they want without it getting soaking wet...cause it's that rigid foam (think a pair of crocks but like 20 times stronger) about 1/4 inch thick and really well designed.I suggest you get your dog ready for it before you try putting it on them. I took a couple of days and offered him treats through the mouth hole as a reward for sticking his nose in it. He got use to sticking his nose in and getting a treat so he didn't reject it when I hooked it up later that week. I just kept feeding him treats "Hannibal Lecter style" and he acted like he couldn't care less it was on. I'll use this in public places where folks are freaked out by the sight of a Dobermann. It should put them at ease while not making him too uncomfortable. We both like it!

Better than the vet muzzle
This is much better than the vet muzzle. Sees to be more comfortable for my pit.

Great for Nail Trims
I have a large, very strong dog. No matter how often you handle her paws or try to do anything to her, she just cannot be desensitized. She panics easily. (She had a rough start as a baby and developing her confidence has been a consistent struggle.) we normally use peanut butter or treats as a distraction when cutting her nails. I decided that it would be best to put myself at total ease because dogs are dogs and, sometimes, the can behave in ways we wouldn’t anticipate in response to perceived threats. I got her the muzzle for that reason. It worked like a charm BUT - even better -it actually also turned out to be a way to keep her consistent distracted with the positive reward. Licking peanut butter off of the front of the muzzle was perfect. It put me at ease, too. It was the best nail trim we’ve ever had. Highly recommend it, even if it makes your dog look like Hannibal Lector.

Excellent muzzle!
I needed a muzzle for my dog that he couldn’t get off. I had a cloth one that I had bought before and he shredded it in about five minutes. He worked very hard to get it off, so I needed one that he could not get off. I only need it for him when we are out working with the calves as he likes to grab the tails and rip the ends off the tails. When I got the muzzle he allowed me to put it on no problem. He still just puts his nose up and lets me put it on now after about three weeks of use. He doesn’t really like it when it’s on, he tries to get it off but can’t and he drags his nose through the snow so it does get some ice buildup but it doesn’t affect his breathing. He does have a little patch of hair rubbed off on top of his nose because he does try to fight it a bit. He only wears it two hours at the most. Just while I’m out doing chores. He still tries to grab tails but he can’t!! Yay!! The best thing I got!

breathable and flexible
I bought this muzzle to aid in training my rescue dog. It's flexible and breathable and apparently comfortable because he has not tried to take it off even once. It's also been a great aid in training. He gets nervous around people and other dogs and this has helped make him calmer and less distracted and cut down on the fear aggression that he was showing. I was afraid that a soft muzzle with velcro would not stay in place and they do not allow dogs to pant properly. This one is perfect for my needs. I measured him before buying per the guide, and I ordered a large but then returned it for an X-large which fits perfectly, and I would suggest going up a size if the measurements are borderline. This is for dogs with a normal muzzle length and will not be good for dogs with short or pushed in muzzles like pugs or bull dogs. I am very glad I made this purchase as it is helpful to both of us on our daily walks. He does not wear it in the house at all because he feels secure at home and does not display aggression toward anyone when not out walking on the leash.

my error
Very well made and would work on a dog with a longer snout. I read that wasn't good for short snouted dogs but had to try. My bull dog is a butt nipper and avid barker! Her nose is too short, she started hyperventilating. My own fault! I would definetly recommend this muzzle!

Flawed design and measurements are way off.
Ok so I had really high hopes for these - I bought 2 because I have 2 Weimaraners, each with their own issues. I measured their snouts as per the instruction on the listing and ordered a medium for my smaller Weim and a large for my bigger Weim. My smaller Weim has a slender face and my bigger girl has a larger, boxier face.I was anxiously awaiting the delivery because as I had mentioned, each of my girls has issues that I have tried and tried to correct using various methods. Then one day, I thought, hmm maybe a muzzle. It might reduce the incessant barking of my older girl and perhaps curb the ability of my younger girl to eat poop. Yep, she eats poop. And it makes me crazy. However, when the muzzles arrived, the medium size wasn’t even going to come close to my smaller girls face so I tried the larger one on her. It fit but was a little snug... that would’ve been fine except she can get it off in less than 5 seconds. There’s a design flaw ... it really should have a lower strap too. But it only had one that goes around her neck but with no anchor. So then I put it on the bigger girl and it is VERY tight against her nose. Like smushes it her nose right up, very very tight. Not comfortable at all. I just can’t use it. I followed the measuring instructions to a T. I’m so disappointed. I’m going to look for a different solution now. What a waste of my money. I could return them but with the holidays upon us, I just don’t see that as an option
