My big fat timer
Ok, here is the deal, I am writing this note because the seller asked me to!! But, I am glad to do it. They asked for me to do a product review, well, I have not really had it long enough to say a lot about it, but, it do work!!!!!! And, I am using it in the morning to make my cowboy coffee!!! I am not doing too well on the coffee thing, but am improving! That said, the timer works!!! But, even the best of products can many times use some help, and in this case, I am thinking the issue is the battery!! There was NO battery supplied!! That sucks!! The first battery should always be provided. Yes, I am sure there was a logical reason for omitting the battery, but if others can do it, this company should be able to do it, don't ya think!! Get real.... How much could a friggin battery cost, when you buy larger quantities!! And yes, I had a AA battery here in my collection of batteries, but that is not the point, and I think you know what I mean without a long explanation!! Bathrooms in service stations are expected to have toilet paper in them.. Since when do you have to bring your own TP!! So why are you reading this?? Just like me, you wanted a good timer, and a reasonable price.. Well, you are in luck, I think this one will do the job for ya.. It is not perfect, but for the money, I do not think you will complain much about any short comings. It is odd that it has an on and off switch on the side, but there it is.. How much energy could you be saving by turning it off, but for someone who might be traveling, or not leaving it out all the time, as I do, the switch might just be perfect. You decide. I just leave it on all the time!! OH, and I would like it if the magnets were stronger!!! They there are two little tiny magnets on each side of the back. They do hold the timer on my stove, but being so weak, the time is too easy to slide around when you are trying to use the controls, but..... I deal with it.. For the price, whata you expect! And yes, it is loud, which is what I needed and wanted!!!!!!! The other little cheap one on the stove next to this one, is so NOT loud that I cannot hear it!! It was a Walmart special. A Taylor I think for 5 dollars!

Works well; also serves as a stopwatch
Works well. Batteries seem to last forever. I used it for a long time before I realized that it also works as a stopwatch if the start button is pressed with the time at zero. The only complaint I have is that when pressing the start button, the numbers don't change for a full second, and the button doesn't have much feedback, so it would be easy to not press the button firmly enough to start the timer, and then look away before realizing that the numbers aren't changing, and then overcook something while waiting to hear a timer. But for the price, it's good value.

If you grill, you need this.
When you are grilling, seconds count. Having a loud alarm that announces you have somewhere to be, gets you to the grill on time. And taking time to make extra button pushes count against you. This is how this grill friend timer helps and protects you as you make your rounds:1. Turn it on. Yes, a reliable on/off switch. No worries about arcane off procedures.2. Before you even go outside to the grill, set the timer to the exact minutes and seconds you want, say 3:40. One button for the minutes, another for the seconds. Easy!3. As you place the first or last steak on the grill, just make one push of the STSP button and put this timer in your shirt or pants pocket.4. When the alarm goes off, just one push of the STSP button, and it shuts up.5. And your family/guests will know full well you have an immediate need to go and turn the steaks.6. The same one push of the STSP button and the timer automatically starts again at 3:40. Return timer to pocket.7. When the alarm goes off, one push of the STSP button, and it shuts up.8. And your family/guests know you have an immediate need to go get the steaks.9. If you determine that these thicker than normal steaks need another say… 30 seconds, one push of the STSP button and stand there to watch 30 seconds go by and remove steaks. You could set it, but why bother. You can do the math from 3:40!10. Optional: After taking the minute or two getting the steaks to the serving area and getting your family/guests there as well, another press of the STSP button can make the point to let the steaks rest. It’s also a good time for a blessing/toast. And the timer keeps it short!11. Turn off the alarm and enjoy your perfect steaks with your family/guests.Know that the alarm is also useful for when you get a telephone call!Just don’t let the little magnets hurt anything in your pocket!Edit - 4 years later: Still going strong!

Sorry, I can't recommend.
I loved this timer; however, after owning it for just a little over two years, the numerals are no longer discernible, so, sadly, I can't use it anymore. I will not be replacing it with another one like it. So, unless you want to purchase a new timer every two years, I wouldn't recommend it.
