This set is geared to a variety of ages and is well constructed. I liked the packaging that is kid friendly but not so childish. All pieces, cards and dice were included in the box as advertised. The pieces are make of wood and come in a case that unfolds to become a board. Because of this design it is compact and easy to store when space is limited. My favorite part of the board are the icons that help with piece placement. I am a complete novice when it comes to chess and these icons helped me get it set up to start playing with my children. My husband, who is the chess player in the family, liked the design and feel of the pieces. My children, 3 and 6, were drawn immediately to it and wanted to play a game right away. The cards were helpful to explain basic moves and concepts. My youngest was successful in play with the use of the dice. My 6 year old was successful in playing multiple games against her father and loved it. If you are on the fence about purchasing this product, I do highly recommend it. I was a little concerned about the price being higher then other sets but upon getting the set, the construction and layout is worth the money. The instructions are incredibly helpful! A few of us were new at chess and the instructions made it very clear, it was very convenient.I also love how compact it is. The board folds and the pieces have their own pouches that fit inside. We take it on vacations with us.

This is a great chess set! It looks great, stores away nicely and is well made. (I read some negative reviews saying that it was made of cheap wood. Personally, I don't think it's bad or feels cheap at all). I taught both my children how to play using this set.Other reviewers complain that this doesn't "teach" chess. Well, sure... In my opinion chess really takes another human to teach! We don't use the die that came with the game. I just taught my kids how to play and made use of the cards that show how each piece moves. The cards are a GREAT help! I recommend this for anyone who wants to start teaching someone how to play chess.

This was a great gift for grandchildren; ages 6 on up to 11. Good way to introduce the game to beginners.

We purchased this for my 4 year old son who was starting to show interest in learning chess (saw other kids playing on YouTube Kids). Within about 6 months, he had the basics down. Now that he is 5, we regularly play chess using this set most weekends!! Not only that, but he pulls this game out over all of the other board games in the cabinet.Truly remarkable to see his mind learn how to predict moves, protect his king, and try to out-think me.Absolute A+ Chess Set!!! Would highly recommend for a child in pre-school or kindergarten!

What a great way to learn how to play chess! My my kids are all enjoying this game, especially my six and ten year old. They can finally play that “really complicated” game that they have watched their older brothers play. The older kids can play with the younger ones with out it being too tedious. The really neat thing is that they can start playing right away and learn how the different pieces move with out the overwhelm of trying to learn strategy as well. The two different ways to play is really genius! This game is quickly becoming a family favorite! My kids have also appreciated the larger size of the board and chess pieces. This is a great concept and a nice set, well worth the price.

I was looking for a game to give the kids in Children's Church to help keep them busy while being home during the stay at home orders. This looked great, but after reading some of the reviews I was a bit concerned. So I purchased just one to start with and was delightfully surprised. This is truly a game for all ages. The tokens are easy to hang on to whether hands are small or arthritic. Having two different versions allows young beginners to play as well. The quick reference cards are great help for beginners and rusty players. All pieces are easily stored in the board that folds into a latched box. Love it. Bought 3 more sets.

Fun Family Chess is a great product for kids of 5+ ages to adults. We have bought 3 sets as it is a weekly tradition a home to play with kids at home and everywhere we go :) Hence we lost some pieces. When contacted seller for possibility to purchase pieces alone, they were extremely nice and sent missing pieces. I will suggest you to consider this product, that I found out is family run and has excellent customer service! 5 stars all around for me - thank you!

Very disappointed with the quality! We paid 85dollars! It smells horribly strong, paint is bad, figures are all inequal size! The board is all creepy. It is so poorly made with cheap wood. I would never have such a creepy item in my kids collection.unfortunatelly we can't return, because it was a Santa's gift. I should have opened it, but I would never think that someone is so shameless to sell such a horrible product for 85 dollars.
