Wouldn’t budge
I purchased 2 packages. Out of the 4 turnbuckles, one end on 3 of them would not turn by hand. It almost wouldn’t turn holding with pliers and slamming with a hammer. Brutal. Once they loosened, if you can call it that, they should be able to twist to adjust when I put up the shades. We are you will need serious hand strength.

It's raining turnbuckles...
I used a couple of these kits to install shade sails over my courtyard. The hardware is of good quality and should last a long time. There are a couple of suggestions I have for the DIY community. First, it is a really good idea to use anti-seize compound on the threads of the turnbuckle. This will prevent a condition known as galling where dry threads can lock up tight and render the turnbuckle unusable. You can find anti-seize compounds (which resemble automotive grease) on Amazon such as Permatex, Loctite and CRC brands. Second, one of my turnbuckles unwound by itself one windy night and when my wife went outside early in the morning, the turnbuckle pieces let go and hit her in the head! No injury, and we both laughed at the odds that the turnbuckle would let go at that precise time, but it did! The answer is to use lock nuts. Buy 8mm stainless steel nuts from Home Depot or Lowes, add lock-washers and thread them onto the side marked "R" (this represents the right hand threaded component). After getting the shade sail tension adjusted to your liking, tighten the lock nuts against the frame of the turnbuckle, and it won't unwind by itself again. Overall I'm satisfied with the turnbuckle shade sail kit except that the turnbuckle frames were slightly bent. However, this did not affect the basic mission or performance.

Hardware looked heavy duty & canopy looked very well made.
I picked up this Windscreen4less Sun Shade Sail Hardware Kit & Sun Shade Sail Canopy ( Beige ) 12' x 16' for my home from Amazon, It is a great kit and shipping was great. The hardware & Canopy didn't work for me as I planed on installing it over my deck at home right beside my home. But a Manufactured Home does not have a header over the door & down over the big window where I wanted to install it and create the shade I need for the summer & keep the side of the house cooler from the south sun. So my installation has to be rethought, my son in-law is a home builder & the building inspector for city I live by. He is going to help me do this at a later date, as his work & building a new home for my daughter & grandchildren has him tied up right now. I am planning to buy this same kit but at a later date and the canopy more than likely will be a different size. So, thank you Amazon. I could not give it five stars as I didn't use the product, but the Hardware Kit looks very heavy duty & solid. It worked great, but I'm concerned about long term durability
The kit is listed at a great price for what you get. The eye brackets feel strong and I'm confident those will hold up nicely. The turnbuckles are nice, and unlike other reviews, I did not need to add any lube or anti-seize material. I do have two suggestions for improvement: stronger carabiners and longer screws. The use of turnbuckles assumes there will be a significant amount of force placed onto the mounting brackets; I don't know if 1" screws will be OK in the long run, but I guess they are usable for a 2x4 mounting post. I would use 2 1/2" screws minimum. The carabiner clips are also pretty thin and don't leave me with a lot of confidence. I hope I'm wrong since I used them, but I wish they would have provided larger and thicker carabiners.

The HARDWEAR
WELL the hardware looks to be good . only thing the screws are not for wood , they are almost a fine curse and if you know anything about this they wont hold up to long since you would need to predrill so not to crack or split the wood add that with something steadily pulling on it that's not good to me . so not a bad deal ,just get some 1/2 inch to a 3/4 wood screws and you will feel a lot better when you place the hardware into wood. 4 stars its still a good deal

Throw away the screws use 3" deck screws
Hardware is pretty stout, the D ring mounts, carabiners, and turnbuckles are all pretty stout. slightly smaller hardware than what you can buy in the hardware store but still pretty strong. The screws are in no way big enough to support any sun shade. There was no way I was trusting those screws to hold up to even medium winds. The moment the wind picks up these sun shades turn into parachutes and put tons of strain on the mount points. You need to use at least two 3" external screws sunk into a stud. I threw the screws away and used four 3" deck screws in each of the mounts and have had great luck. Everything is mounted solidly and I don't worry about anything ripping out.
