Have been slowly transitioning to Bosch tools since this purchase
How I arrived at my overall rating: ***** (5 stars)Value ***** (5 stars)Purchase price: $79.00I know this can be had a better deal when bought in set, but this was my gateway into Bosch power tools, so wanted to just trial it.Quality/Durability ***** (5 stars)Duration of use: 22 monthsNice build quality, no problems so far.Ease of Use/Assembly/Install: ***** (5 stars)Battery life is good. Light weight enough to use single handedly (which can be a challenge for multiple use with some hammer drills)Usefulness/Appearance/Fun Factor: ***** (5 stars)My main reason for upgrading the drill was my old one doesn't have an LED. Yes, I can pull out the auxiliary light, but this is much more convenient. Since this drill, I have bought 3 other Bosch tools and they have been great!

They're Bosch!
I used to buy a different brand name of power tools. They were the best I could find back in the 60's and 70's and I didn't have to buy more for a couple of decades... until the battery powered ones started coming of age. My first battery powered drill from another brand became outdated within two years and the batteries didn't last very long. Fast forward to post Y2K. I went for another drill by my first brand but they seemed to put a lot of emphasis on a flashy design and I saw a comparative Bosh on sale and decided to try it. Geeze, it was great and I still have it (PS 31) and use it and it's still the original battery. Almost all of the power tools I buy any more are Bosch. They're powerful, dependable, well designed and well made. Everything I've bought from them has been of the highest quality and affordable. Giving this company 5 Stars for their products is easy!

A little on the heavy side, but... Read more below.
First off, this is my honest, uncompensated review with verified purchase. I just happened onto a smoking hot deal for this Bosch cordless hammer drill on Amazon's Deals of the Day. It saves you considerably to check those out. As mentioned before, it is a little heavy compared to some competitors but it's a full sized tool, not one of the downsized versions. It packs plenty of power and has great battery life between charges, which may vary taking into consideration how each individual uses it. Battery has an LED indicator to show how much charge is left. A 20 position clutch for fine tuning torque settings and 3 positions for screw driving, drilling and hammer drilling. It shifts from low to high gear very smoothly and has an all metal key less chuck that clicks to let you know when it's tight enough, and a "mediocre" work light. Included is 4 extra super hardened 2" screw driving bits with a clip/rail to hold 8 bits, and a heavy duty canvas carrying bag. Feels good in the hand, and built to last. Needless to say that the charger and a belt clip are also included. Couldn't find a better price anywhere I looked. Don't believe you will regret this purchase.

Strong and reliable but no on-drill storage for a hex driver bit
This replaced an earlier model of the same drill that lasted well over ten years before I stripped the gears. As a measure of durability of this brand and model, I bent the shaft very slightly early on. Holes in steel remained usable, though slightly mishaped at the entry. The through holes remained round, never requiring file dressing. Usually I drill through many holes at a time through 1/8"-1/4" steel. I have drilled maybe ten holes at a time through 1/2" steel without overheating. I do not need a professional grade drill so this drill is fine. The drill is powerful, more powerful than the previous drill of that same model. The front light is adequate. Bosch batteries last a long time with intermittent use of 5-30 minutes in a day. However this drill came as a bare tool. I already have two batteries, the same age. Switching batteries allows me to work without interruption for an hour or more with no power depletion. The lack of a clip to hold a driver bit is a significant flaw. The drill is okay for shop use, with bit storage right at hand. However for use moving from site to site the lack is a real problem. Had I know the drill lacked this clip I would have looked elsewhere. For light steel fabrication use in the shop, this is a good drill/driver.

Cost effective for home use
I've moved and had the need for a hammer drill. This tool has proven to be perfect for the light work projects I have. I had a Bosch impact driver for years, which is why I went with their hammer drill.
