I was interested in the product because its has the alarm on it. I already owned a security bar by another company that was sturdier against the door. I have tiles in my doorway and the foot of this bar is not very big. The top part with the alarm is also not attached to the bar very firmly and so the top rubber part will fit under the doorknob, but it is wobbly and not as strong and sturdy as I feel I need to feel safe (I have been robbed at night before I had any security bar so I want something that won't be easy to bump out of the way. I want to call the police before the bar falls to the floor and the intruder is in. It all happens very fast so slowing that person down is important.) So for me this bar is not sturdy, it wobbles on both ends, and I think with the amount of give it has that someone could dislodge the front door with a thin rod or tool of some kind and loosen it up more. The alarm would go off but by the time I got to the door I am sure the bar would be flat out on the floor and I would have to deal with the unwanted visitor. And thinking about it a little more, if the alarm woke me up I don't think I would proceed to the front door to face the intruder! I would lock my bedroom door and escape through the ground floor window and call the police. I'm an older single lady and a confrontation such as that would probably not have a healthy outcome for me. So bottom line is that I am not sure it will hold or work for me. I would want a bigger rubber foot on the bottom and a more secure top rubber part that goes under the doorknob and then be able to kick it towards the door to make it really stable and hard to just knock over. I was surprised because saber has a lot of good products - but for me this isn't one of them.

It is a sturdy rod, easily adjustable. But the alarm is not reliable. So I returned it, and Amazon quickly replaced it at my request. The replacement had the same problem. I decided to keep the second one anyway, although I lost a few bucks for a useless alarm. In the alarm housing, the two CR2032 batteries are stacked in a clumsy assembly that has to be manipulated for the batteries to make contact. Contact cannot be visually confirmed. When contacts are working, then the alarm might sound off if he door is jarred heavily --- or it might not. I tried fresh batteries - no difference - CR2032's are designed for solo application, to be used one at a time, not to be stacked as in this device. They should have used AAA or AA batteries. C'est la vie.

This product is garbage. I bought 2 of the one with the alarm. On one the alarm was broken, didn't turn on or react at all. The plastic was pulled, the switch was turned to on. The other one beeped when switched to on, that one did not. So I went to test the working one, the responsiveness of the alarm wasn't great and it broke my door! I now have a gaping hole. Talk about security issues. This bar just caused more problems. Do not buy and amazon fix my door please!!

I like the fact that I can have my door secured, but I can’t turn the alarm on anymore, I don’t know if the battery is low are what. Can I return it without the box?
