What's the gesture/way to do simple left-right navigation that is done by the left-right arrow keys in other presenter remotes?

You can achieve this by swiping the top left and right. Also you can refer to the gesture diagram on the detail page or the manual for detailed instructions.

Can you shut off the gestures? i just want a basic trackpad.

The gestures are optional and must be activated and created before using them.
