Best flashlight you'll ever ever own
I have three of these flashlights - one for the shop, one for night walks with my dog, and one for our bedroom (in the event that we experience a power outage). Additionally, I've given one to my son and a small purse-sized version to my wife as gifts. The reasons I selected this particular flashlight include: (a) Size - they are small and light weight enough to slip into a jacket or jeans pocket with being visible of excessively heavy. (b) light intensity is easily adjusted from dim to blindingly bright. (c) Very rugged - I have dropped my lights onto concrete or other hard surfaces on multiple occasions without failure. (d) The color temperature of the light is very high resulting in a pure white light that is ideal for mechanical inspections in poorly lit, confined spaces (e.g. an engine compartment . (e) The bezel around the business end of the flashlight is scalloped with a semi-sharp edge which makes it suitable for self-defense on night walks. (f) Excellent battery life - I only charge my night-walk flashlight about once a month. The bedroom and shop lights get charged a few times a year.My only issue (and a minor one at that) is that the button that controls light intensity and mode (flashing vs continuous) is difficult to locate by feel. I have to look down and rotate the flashlight to find it. While mildly annoying, this is probably a conscious design decision since a protruding control would likely be unintentionally activated during routing handling of the light.

Great purchase
Great flashlight. I work in LE and this flashlight lights up an entire room while being small and manageable while holding your FA. Great purchase.

Fenix hasn't let me down for 11years and this light is top notch as expected.
I started with a fenix light 11 years ago as a chance and loved it so much I have continued to buy fenix lights over the years. I have 5 fenix handheld lights and 2 headlamps and love them all the only reason I have more than a couple is the technology gets better and I want to have the latest and greatest as I still use my original fenix light. Ppl jump to streamlight or surefire when looking at quality flashlights but fenix shouldn't be overlooked for daily lights. This light has excellent battery efficiency vs output and is extremely bright on the high setting throwing the light out so I can identify deer behind my house at 300yds. Anyone can produce lumens out of a light, what you pay for is efficiency and reflector design which projects the light. This light has an excellent hot spot to throw the light out at distance yet enough spill to be used inside a house to light up an entire room. As somewhat of a flashlight nerd fenix makes excellent lights that are on par with streamlight/surefire for daily use, where fenix needs improvement is kits for rifle mounting. This pd35 version is setup for ease of use mounted on a rifle but I still have to buy a mount while streamlight offers the HLX as a light kit with pressure pad. So personally I use fenix as my daily flashlight and streamlight/surefire for firearms. If fenix offered a pd35 tactical all in one kit I would already have one.

The most reliable battery on the market
I have heard reviewers rave about this flashlight company because it is one of the few battery and electronic companies that make exceptional batteries with long lifespans. Plus, they are a taiwanese company. The flashlight itself is amazing. It uses high quality precision construction, terific light emmission tech, thermoregulation tech to keep it from getting too hot (it will lower brightness intensity once it gets to 60°C) and to prevent it from burning you. I own several of the flashlights and batteries this company makes and i know i can rely on them to function for many years into the future, thank you Fenix!

Respectable little light!
I've tried a number of lights to upgrade my 15 year old SureFire Executive Defender LED flashlight that is the much older 200-lumen-max model. So many of them have failed to meet my expectations with how tight the beam is to see long-distance in our rural area where I may need to scan the fenceline for damage during/after a storm before letting the dogs out or see down the street for hazards as we walk them. A few have come comparably close but most were too big for keeping in your pocket.I'm pleased to say this Fenix PD35R has impressed me. Physically it is nearly identical in size to my old light, has a good tight beam for a long distance throw, and is brighter than what I had in the hot-spot at distance.I've included a few photos comparing the 4 top contenders I've had for "pocket EDC" lights at about 130 feet away from the fence, and fixed manual exposure (F/4 1/30 second ISO 6400) for all of them so the camera settings won't affect the perception of how bright it is. The pictures on the computer look (to me) very close to what I see in real life between the different lights.I'm also VERY happy to report the USB-C charge port on the Fenix PD35R works with all the USB-C chargers I have tried, including "smarter" PD ones that some cheaper devices won't take a charge from. It only uses the 5V charge profile but that's still enough to get it full in a couple hours. I very much like the little LED indicator too so I can charge it when I get down around 50% and not worry about running out of juice.

Overpriced, Overrated
Pros:--Very compact--Solid, well-built--Sturdy case that looks like it will lastCons:--Limited utility, because of its narrow scope of light--Average battery life--Takes forever to charge, even with USB-C connection--Fairly bright, but nowhere near the 1700 lumens claimedI am baffled by the 5-star reviews for this product. They put the word "tactical" in the name and added 50 bucks to the price. Not a bad flashlight, just not a good value. Save yourself some money and look at comparable flashlights available on Amazon.
