Skepticism dissipated! Evaporated! Buy this, but read the instructions!
Mosquito repellent products ALWAYS come with a healthy dose of skepticism. Repellents always make you taste bad, smell bad or also repel your loved ones too.We camped just off a lake shore, near a marsh, that was also near a rain forest. The mosquitoes were aggressive, came in large numbers and were pretty big in size too. In the 4 minutes it took to exit the kayaks and pull them up on shore, I'd already killed 11 mosquitoes on mmjust my forehead alone. I keep we would be in for a rough time once the wetsuits came off. But my friend had one of these with him and it was his first time using it. I admit, I made a face when he pulled the thing out once we made camp. Mosquitoes were absolutely nuts and were swarming around our heads in literal clouds, getting in our eyes, noses, ears and yes, I know I swallowed several... But we're not going to talk about that. It was bad. Really bad. My friend finally located the bag with the repellant and set it up. We had to check several times to see if the thing was even on since it made zero noise - which was excellent because we were absolutely in love with the songs the mosquitoes were singing in our ears. He turned this thing on and... The mosquitoes cleared the space about as fast as 'that guy' who lets a rotten one out at the checkout line at the grocery store. Cleared a space so well, but there was no odor, no real smoke, just.... Clear, mosquito free air. It was really nice. The others started emerging from their tents and could also enjoy the relatively small, but mosquito free space to cook and sit. This was the first thing I did when I got cell phone service again. I bought two, and then I went camping again. The combined powers of my two and his repellants, really did improve the quality of experience we had on that first trip and the second one. What also surprised me was how little fuel the product used. One little can of propane lasted a week long camping trip. It's so easy to use even their 10 year old set it up on their own while we were all preparing for the next leg of our trip. The product doesn't let off any light, though it does burn propane. I highly recommend this product, but read the directions and understand the ingredients you're working with and how to properly handle it. Just don't be dumb and out it in your eyes... And for the love of... - don't eat it. I hope this helps :)

100% effective mosquito repellent!
Absolutely the best product out there for deterring mosquitoes. I've tried all the stuff you spray on and to me it's worthless. You may not get bit but the mosquitoes are still swarming you and close to your body and making noise and all the rest and it's totally annoying and not worth a penny. But this product actually works. I was skeptical until I tried it. You simply push a button and it lights, and within 15 minutes there are no mosquitoes anywhere to be found in my 20 by 40 shop. It's unbelievable how effective this product is

Don't go camping with out one!!
Couldn't imagine camping with out it now! Keeps mosquitos away period, point blank. We've used it in the deep woods of eastern US where there are a ton of mosquitos. I know a guy that did wet land studies in the everglades for a few years and he used them too and had the same option.

Mosquito pads great. Device not great
One less star for ignition design. Product is good. Nearly returned the device due to ignition. Staying lit is tricky. Tried with Isobutane and propane and works when it works well. For all those that need to use the green propane canisters, buy the GREEN Adaptor on Amazon. I thinks its the LIXADA brand. All the other silvers adaptors are defective and don't work. No wonder they don't accept returns. Also Thermacell, please improve the ignition and provide an easy way to tell the product is lit in daylight.

The only choice for keeping mosquitos at bay
Been using Thermacell products for many years, and my outdoor space (a Brooklyn back yard) would be uninhabitable from May to October without this. I haven't done any rigorous testing, but a 100g canister of iso-butane lasts a couple months with regular (say 6 hours weekly) use. A much better deal than the equally effective smaller units that take the little butane cartridges (which are easily and very cheaply refillable by the way, check out YouTube). Contrary to the manufacturer's specs and some other reviews, I have also run these on more readily available and cheaper propane 'camp gas' cylinders using an adapter from Amazon (I got the green 'Randder' version), and the Thermacell worked just fine although it seemed to go through the mats a little bit faster.BTW, as tempting as it is to cheap out with aftermarket mats, don't do it. I tried a few varieties, and they either didn't fit, produced noxious smoky vapor or burned out in an hour. Stick with the Thermacell brand.
