Really good build quality and daughter loves it
Feels will built out of the box, and very robust when children are not necessarily gently with it.My 6 year old daughter has really enjoyed progressing through the levels in the learning app.Would be nice if there were a few more levels in the app or some “challenges”. But now we’ve finished the levels we can just “free play” in the scratch environment and think of our own project. You have various sensors plus LEDs / sounds / motor movements and to base a project on . For example you can get the robot to avoid obstacles, flash its LEDs as indicators and so on.I noticed there is a newer model of mbot which is even more features. May well but that when daughter is a bit older.

Engaging Gift, But With A Learning Curve
The Makeblock mBot Robot Toys make for an interesting gift, especially for children keen on robots or STEM-related activities. However, they do come with a bit of a learning curve, with installation and familiarization posing a challenge. It's not necessarily an everyday toy for most kids unless they have a strong interest in robotics or programming. Still, for those who are, it provides a great introduction to Scratch and Arduino programming. Be prepared to spend some time setting it up and helping your child get the hang of it.

Very nice educational tool
Contrary to other review, 4 AA batteries are sufficient. I programmed the robot using USB. Didn't manage to connect it via Bluetooth 4 dongle, maybe need the Makeblock dongle.

Cute but disappointing
We loved this little robot when we first set it up but it is way to fragile for children. My son isn't rough with it and he's had little robots before so he's pretty good with them but this one has broken twice now. First an "eye" was damaged after a small knock on a piece of furniture and now a wheel has snapped off. It's designed for children and shouldn't fall apart from every small knock. Unfortunately, it's been very disappointing.

Unable to upload the code
I downloaded the PC version, but unable to upload the code. Unable to download the android either because the app is too old to support the latest Android version. Disappointing

Wish they'd supplied the 3.7V battery
Product itself is fairly sturdy. However, you don't just require 4 AA batteries, you do also need a 3.7V Li battery with a cable connection, which costs about £10. Would've been useful to include that in the kit given the £85 price label.Haven't tried the remote control or the programming part yet.
