Black Friday $49.99 Great Value Good Quality
I chose this for the versatility of the reversible lid, and the very large size. The 9Qt. is approximately a 6qt. pot and a 3qt. lid. Perfect for Chilli, Soups etc. I also appreciate the lid lifter tool that was included. Love the size, and of course, the price.Quality is good, but the casting is not as smooth as I would have hoped. The jury is still out on the handle. A mid point in the handle would have been better to keep it from slipping on the kettle hook. Also, the handle seems barely able to handle the 21lb. weight plus food. We will see over time. Still, the kettle and lid are fully functional and useful. No dents, cracks, dings or chips anywhere in the pot or lid, and I inspected very closely.Seasoning is adequate, but of course, it's new. It needs more seasoning and it will get better over time, and over the years. All cast iron I own gets better and better. This will too.

I baked a cake over a campfire!
Bought this for a week long tent camping trip. We cooked everything from chili and BBQ to spaghetti and meatballs. But the best part was dessert. I heard you could “bake” stuff in this and it’s true. We make perfect cobbler over the campfire and even a baked lemon cake by putting this straight over the fire w coals on top. Sturdy, versatile. Recommend for sure

Tossed out my other cookware!
One of the best investments I’ve ever made! I’m a full-time nomad, living in a small 24’ RV. We try to live with minimal “stuff” and any new items usually need to be multi-functional to make the cut as space is at a premium. This Dutch oven is a wonder in the kitchen and over a campfire. It’s the perfect size for two people, easy to maintain and adds flavor to everything I cook in it. It came pre-seasoned, but we did season it with coconut oil over a wood fire. Eggs come out perfectly, soups, stews, meats-no problem! The deep lid with feet make this Dutch oven superior to many others on the market. Get a cast iron trivet to disperse the heat for your stovetop and you can toss your other pans. The best part for me was being able to bake again. Our rig doesn’t have a oven and I’ve missed baking. Being able to bake bread or make scones over a campfire was easy and the results were delicious. Awesome piece of equipment!

Great product, 6 quarts... just a little small
I used this product on its inaugural camping trip a couple of weeks ago--3 hungry guys and planning to do 3 meals with it... warming up chili (an easy warm up, pun intended), "Mountain Man" breakfast, Campfire Nachos, and then Mountain Man breakfast again. The biggest complaint was that I just wish I'd ordered a bigger size. It would be perfect for a camping trip with a girlfriend or significant other (any takers?!), but it just doesn't hold quite enough food for 3 guys. I'd recommend the 9 quart for any one who expects to camp with more than 2 people.Other than that, great flavor enhancer for the nachos especially. Easy to use the hook thing to lift the hot lid. Good-looking... made all my friends jealous.

Works Well
Got this for my son for cooking meals over a campfire. I have a variety of lodge ovens and skillets that are new and over 50 years old. I don't see any difference in the quality of this brand. It maintains a good season (I did re-season once without issue when someone used detergent and a scraper on it - UGH!). I like the lid design where you can flip it over on a fire and make bacon, pancakes, tortillas, etc. Many ovens don't have this feature. For the price, this is a great oven and I highly recommend.

A life long purchase
There is an Instagram channel called Men with a Pot. They use this exact one. Everything they make in it looks amazing. My husband had to have one. We used it last night on our outside BBQ. One large chicken went in and the results were mind blowing! Crispy on the outside. Tender on the inside. Added some veggies too, and even the potatoes had a light crispy edge to them. Side note: the lid doubles as a griddle. This pot is sturdy. This pot is great value for the money. This cast iron Dutch oven is life.

good quality and nice design
Great product and manufacture quality. I bought the 6 quart size and it is bigger and heavier than my expected.Liked its thoughtful design as well. Its lid can be used as a fry pan, and it has 3 legs for outdoor use, but the legs are not too long so you can still use it over the gas stove, and the lid lifter works well. Used it cooked outside in the backyard once and several usages in the kitchen, and it worked very well. This cast Iron Dutch Oven is a nice choice for both cooking at home and camping.

Another great cast iron cooking pot for my collection (and use!)
I've various types of cooking vessels: clay, ceramic, cast iron, tempered glass, heavy stainless steel, and I use them all.If you can afford to invest in a few cast iron pieces do so - it will change the way you cook for the better! I think I own some 30+ pieces and love them. I've used them whilst camping, on the BBQ at home, over charcoal and so on. Easy to maintain too.If you're new to cast iron cookware, make sure you properly season them - videos on YT can help you. It's very easy. I've used both coconut oil and EEVO olive oil to season...and they're both great. It doesn't leave surfaces sticky or awful. If you need to resurface, that's easy too. I bought an inexpensive paint sanding wheel that I attach to a drill and in a few minutes you're down to the bare metal. Then just re-season again. Piece of cake. Also for newbies - do NOT put into the dishwasher - it's cast iron and not only will you ruin the surface seasoning, but it will rust and you'll have to re-surface and re-season again.Do NOT air dry. Again, this is iron and it will rust. I've read comments from people who were angry their cookware rusted and returned an item. This is the fault of the person who doesn't know how to take care of cast iron. I've used cast iron for over 40 years now...fabulous!This is the perfect size cookpot for the two of us. it's well made and you can use the lid also as a frypan. I can't say enough good things about cast iron. It lasts forever! Love my Overmont Camp Dutch Oven!

Great product
Exactly as described! Had our eyes on a much more expensive Lodge cast iron model but are so happy with this well made and more cost effective model. Love the dual use of the lid as a fry pan also. Made excellent campfire pizzas in both the lid and the pan!

Capacity of pot not as expected
I got the 9qt version which claims the pot has 6.3 litres capacity. The pot seemed a bit small when unpacked (not as deep as I expected), so I measured how much water I could fit in. It is only 5 litres if you fill it up to about 1 cm from the top (even that would be too full for cooking). It should be okay to cook for a group of 5-6 adults.Otherwise, it seems to be good quality, but I want to test it on a tripod over a campfire and see if the handle will not bend when the pot is full because I'm a bit skeptical. The recipe book is a bonus, but don't expect much; there are only 10 recipes.

Practical and Versatile
I've been thoroughly impressed with the Overmont Camp Dutch Oven's performance, whether it's during camping trips, kitchen renovations, or unexpected power outages. My initial purchase was driven by the need for a reliable outdoor oven, and this Dutch oven has exceeded my expectations. One of the standout features for me is the design with legs on both the top and bottom. This design allows for versatile usage without needing a grill. You can simply place coals underneath to achieve consistent heat distribution, while the flat top enables you to add coals on the surface, ensuring good temperature control for baking or roasting.Choosing the right size is crucial, and I've found the 8-inch option suitable for intimate gatherings or meals for two. However, for larger dishes or accommodating more guests, I've invested in a larger size. It's important to note that the larger the oven, the more coals it requires to reach the desired temperature, but having both sizes has proven to be practical for my needs. While I've been mostly satisfied with this Dutch oven, there are a few considerations to keep in mind. The included cookbook, while seemingly comprehensive, lacks variety in vegetarian recipes and is spread across multiple languages. However, this hasn't been a significant issue as there are plenty of resources online.Additionally, while the Dutch oven comes pre-seasoned, I would recommend re-seasoning it before each use to maintain optimal cooking performance. Storage can also be a slight inconvenience, especially when camping, as the seasoned surface can attract dust and debris. It would have been beneficial if the product came with a storage solution to address this concern.Overall, I recommend the Overmont Camp Dutch Oven. While it may require some effort in maintenance and storage, the joy and satisfaction I've experienced from outdoor cooking make it all worthwhile.
