It is just like a vintage handset
This handset is a nice smooth plastic, with heft. Especially for older adults, it is much easier to hold than to hold a cellphone. The sound is good. The important thing is to make sure the adaptor is good quality, and is pushed in properly, if the cellphone doesn't have a jack input (newer models do not). I bought this for an 88 year old and I might buy one for myself next. For what it's worth, I had one made of that rubbery material that gets sticky with time, and I hated touching it - but it was more comfortable for long conversations. This new handset is so much better than that one.

Great for Teams/Zoom Calls
We've stopped using telephones at work and everybody talks to each other with Teams or Zoom even if they don't want video. Most people have decided to give up their desk phones for extra real estate, including me.But using Teams with headphones or ear buds for unplanned calls is awkward. You have to keep them nearby even if they're not plugged in all the time, then fumble with them when a call comes in. I didn't like it so I bought one of these. Now it sits next to my docking station, plugged in and waiting for a call. I just pick it up and answer on the screen. It's great! From a lifetime of experience I'm good for a long time holding it without much tsuris, and if I get tired I can just switch to buds. As it's still new, it's made for some fun conversations as people see it for the first time on a video call. There are cheaper versions of this idea on Amazon, but I went with this one based on reviews and features. This one doesn't have any buttons to break or not work, and the sound is really very good - especially for those listening to me from a microphone right in front of my mouth. The handset is nice and heavy in the hands, substantial but not too much. You could definitely use it as a club to good effect, LOL. Edit: The short turned out to be in the docking station, not the phone. No problems with this item.

Failed after few minutes
This product worked for a few minutes. We loved it and were excited. Sat it on a shelf and couple weeks later plugged it in to use and it simply does not work. It will not pick up sound at all. Few days past very short return window is aweful. We would exchange it if we could. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER.

Functions pretty well
Finally, I can hear people on my cellphone clearly without it being on speaker phone. Using a handset is very intuitive, and this device doesn't require connecting blue tooth. However, sometimes the things people say sound muffled, and I can't understand what they say. It could be they aren't speaking directly into their phone's microphone. They only way to know is if both people use the same handset, I guess. Conversations at multiple businesses sounded pretty well.

I LOVE my RED Princess Cell Phone!!!
My landline phone service was knocked out last night, so I finally decided to try this handset attachment on my cell phone, and it works PERFECTLY! It makes my cell phone feel just like I'm talking on my landline princess phone! I didn't need to use an Opis adapter with it as it plugged directly into the earphones port of my iPhone SE 1st generation. Just be sure if your phone is in a protective case, like an Otterbox or anything, that the plug is all the way in, otherwise it won't work. You may have to really push to get it all the way in properly. So, if you're an old-school landline devotee like me, but the ever increasing cost of owning the only landline phone in town is becoming too much for you, or your landline service is knocked out, this retro handset attachment will ease the pain, seriously. It is the perfect handset weight, too, it feels just like a real landline phone. This handset is well made, a good heavy weight, works great and is adorable.I bought the red one with the black curly cord. I LOVE it and wish I had tried it out when I first bought it, so I could have returned the unneeded adapter that I was advised to buy with it. And I wish someone had gifted it to me, because it would be lovely to thank someone for this very thoughtful attachment for my cell phone. If you hate talking on your cell phone because you prefer a landline handset, this IS the answer!!!

Loving it 🤩
I have been playing with this all day, lol! And it is awesome. For anyone who grew up using a regular handset, you forget how functional a handset was. Cell phones didnt improve on the talking/listening part of the phone. Your face presses buttons, either your ear's too far away or your mouth is too far away or you have to put it on speaker phone, annoy everyone around you or let everyone hear your conversation. There's a time and place for a cell phone--for convenience you can't beat it, and some don't mind earbuds or headsets. But if I'm sitting at home this is awesome. The people I'm talking to can hear me clearly, I can hear them clearly because the phone is right against my ear, my mouth is right against the bottom piece. It's not cheap plastic--has a nice heft to it just like the old phones did. And best of all you can sit and curl your finger in the curly cord while you're talking, which is mandatory. And imagine how funny it would be to have this in your backpack or purse, have your phone ring and then you pull a telephone handset out of your purse and talk on it lol! I'm thinking of getting one for my elderly mother who struggles to hear using the cell phone. I'm in love with this thing, my kids can roll their eyes all they want :-)Update 11/2022:I use this ridiculous thing every day. Of all the impulse buys I've ever made off of Amazon I'd say this one gets the most use.

Buy an extra 3.5mm to USBC adapter for this
I realized I barely talk on the phone these days, and part of the reason was the ergonomics made it a pain to do long convos - I picked up this headset to resolve that. Overall, it's an ok product. The audio is clear, but you definitely feel like you're only getting 60% of the volume. After a week, the 3.5mm/USB C connector they gave me broke, and I had another on hand that I swapped in and it worked fine since.
