Works as well as the big ones, with many advantages
I've had a larger version for years; not the huge staircase type, but simple like this yet taking up a much larger footprint and having wide handlebars that wrap around you and continue downward along your sides. Using this little guy feels identical to my old one but it has the triple advantage of easily storing out of the way, being light enough (20 lbs) to grab and go wherever you want (like near the TV or out on the deck), and it doesn't use a rope (my old one has a rope which runs back and forth on a pulley, leaving rope dust on the floor and eventually fraying). This unit is quiet but does softly clunk with each up-down transition. Mine also quickly developed a couple of squeals, as in metal grinding against metal, but tightening some bolts solved that. This can definitely give you a workout depending on how tightly you adjust the resistance and whether you laboriously step all the way down or just go part way. E.g., I prefer to step quickly and only about halfway down, which feels like briskly walking but with extra effort.I'm very pleased with the quality and performance of this stepper which, by the way, assembled very easily, and I highly recommend it.

A Great Stepper At A Great Price
This was an excellent purchase at a crazy low price. Very easy to assemble in 20 minutes. It works very well. A couple of things to consider... The foot step distance is a little short but it's easy to adapt your stepping to match it. The hardest setting is for me about average as I'm pretty fit. But I still work up a good sweat in 30 minutes by speeding up stepping speed. The build quality is excellent too. The little computer works great. It automatically rotates the display through several readings, or if you tap the button for a second or two it stays in a display mode you like which is what I do. Finally, after a couple of uses it did start squeaking a bit. I tried the grease that they include in a little plastic envelope but it didn't help. I then tried spraying the moving parts with a little WD-40 and it's been quiet ever since. Caution.. I wouldn't spray the two pistons under the pedals. Those are quiet and WD40 may not be good for them. Finally, as any piston driven exercise equipment, those pistons get really really hot. That's normal. Don't pick up the machine and rub against them until they cool down. I forgot and they reminded me very quickly. Anyway, I highly recommend this stepper. One of my better purchases.

it works as advertised
Just as advertised, I had no issues setting it up, and it takes up very little floor space. I haven't had any trouble out of the step counter, and the tensioner works as advertised. It seems to work quite well. The only issue is the handle tends to wobble a little bit, even though I've tightened the three base screws down. It doesn't help. I just can't lean on the handle with all my weight. In their defense, I'm a little over the weight limit at 250 pounds, so that could be a factor. Otherwise, a perfect piece of workout equipment that doesn't take up much space. And I can move it around easily.

GREAT LITTLE STEPPER
Great lil stepper. I had this in the box for a week dreading to put it together and was amazed at how easy it is that a 10year old child can do it without difficulty. The product demonstration shows step by step how to do it, which is a great plus if you are one like me who hates to read an instruction manual. I could immediately feel the work out in my thighs and bottom. This is a great machine to incorporate into your exercise program. It is lightweight but incredible sturdy and well made and doesn't take up a lot of space. Well worth the money for a machine to use everyday while watching tv :) If you are the fence about buying this, don't hesitate as you will not be disappointed. I don't believe there are any negative reviews, but if there are any, just ignore them and get this to help get back into shape and moving!!!!!!!!!!! I love my stepper.Im so glad I made the purchase.

Stepper portion works well
I found the stepper portion of this exercise equipment to work very well and it’s fun to use. However, the vertical bar that the handlebars sit on did not have its holes predrilled in the correct spots so that I was only able to secure the post with 2 of the 4 screws. Additionally I found the handle bar post to be too short causing me back pain and the entire device a little bit of instability. You tend to lean forward when the handlebars are short and I almost fell over a couple times. So now I only use it against the breakfast bar in the kitchen. That way I can put both arms on the counter. It does give a good workout. I bought it to strengthen my quads following a total knee replacement. It would have been too much physically for me to return it. All in all it’s ok and I am using it. I should add that I am only 5’5”. I wouldn’t recommend for a taller person. I think it would cause lots of back pain leaning forward.

Great product for the money!
I wanted something small and compact and easy to move around and this is it! Super easy to put together and yes the sensor is touchy, but I managed to position is just right to work. It’s basic, no bells or whistles, but gives a good workout.

Works well and I like the price
Works well and I like the price. At the tightest tension, I could still use a little more resistance, but hard to complain for the price. I moved to northern-ish Europe earlier this year. I'm renting a small house in an area with difficult winters and want to be able to exercise on days I can't get to the gym. I've had this and been using it for three weeks. Easy to assemble in less than 30 minutes. Takes little floor space and like most of Europe, the house has no closets, so space is a premium. Like other reviewers, mine began squeaking after two weeks. I liberally sprayed the moving parts with a spray silicone. That took away the squeaks, now hoping I don't have to spray too often. Thanks to reviewers who answered my question about the battery-operated meter.

So far working as hoped
I have had item for a few months at this point and use this item often (45mi a to an hour/use)I oil approx every 3 uses to reduces squeaking. Can tip easily, if leaning hard on handles, but resting handles to provide balance.Small and easy to tuck away between uses
