Collaborative Art Journals and Shared Visions in Mixed Media

As someone who participates in round robin journal exchanges and collaborative photo journal works, I found this book to be inspiring. While this is not a "how to" guide to various mixed media work in the usual sense, it is a showcase of creative collaborations that sparked my creativity. The interviews with featured artists were a bonus as it added depth and structure to the many photos of various journals and books. I would highly recommend this new book by LK to anyone who is interested in round robins, exchanging art journals or other exchanges between artists. Besides being a feast for your eyes, it will be food for your imagination.

Essentially a overview guide to hosting your own round robin or collaborative journal swap with quotes and snippets of conversation and some interviews from the artist who participated in the ones that are spotlighted in this book. There are pages after pages of photos from the resulting journals and books but there are no detailed explanations on the actual techniques or motivation behind the artworks shown. If you're looking for visual eye candy or ideas for themes for your own swaps then you'll like this book.

l.k. is an excellent writer. she is thoughtful and smart. there's not a lot of wasted fluff in here as you find in some art/craft books. there are interviews, instructions, stories, and techniques. it is a meaningful book that will give you great ideas for organizing your own collaborative project in a fabulously creative fashion. the artwork is featured in large, colorful photographs where you can relish all the details. it is especially inspiring. i highly recommend it.

I loved the book. Just took forever to get here. I think I waited a couple of weeks for it. A good book, very informative if you want to set up a swap or a round robin. Glad I bought it.

This book explains the different types of collaborative journaling from working with your family members to round robin groups from the internet. Large scale exchanges to small and personal exchanges. The photographs of the art is excellent. Collaborative Art Journals was one of my top two reference books for teaching a class in collage. It's a must have in my library.

I was disappointed with this book. Many of the ideas are not very inspiring and nothing really popped out at me. I have to say that Quarry as a publisher is the best for art books. I have others that are very inspiring.

This is a fabulous book with amazing array of beautiful and creative artwork! If you love mixed media, get this one.

Already inspired enough to start a collaborative project with an old college friend. We both majored in art in the beginning. Her work is in the mail!!

Von der Aufmachung her ein echtes Quarry-Book.Einfach wunderbar!Gute Fotos von ausgefallener Kunst unterschiedlicher Künstler.Es ist eine wahre Wohltat und Entspannung in diesem Buch immer wieder von neuem zu blättern, und man tut dies gerne.Nicht nur Künstlerbücher auch andere dreidimensionale Werkstücke werden abgebildet.Es bringt jedes mal Freude ,das Buch aus dem Schrank zu holen.Die Texte halten sich in ihrem Ausmaß an erträgliche Grenzen und sind im Großen und Ganzen verständlich.

A friend of mine and I had been planning to do a journal round robin. This book gave us lots of good ideas on how to do that.Made us re-think our plan, but I think it will be fantastic!
