DELL Latitude 3189 Intel Pentium N4200 Convertible 2-in-1 Laptop Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit (Renewed)
The media could not be loaded. Received my Refurbished but practically new Dell Latitude 3189 Intel Pentium N4200 today.Love it. Of all the Dells I have purchased, and I have purchased five, this one suits me. It is a little heavier than my damaged 11.6" laptops both with damaged hard drives, but it is still an acceptable weight. One of my other 11.6" laptops has the power button was on the right front corner, where I would continually turn it off whenever I held that edge to remove a USB device or cord. It was an annoying troublesome habit. The placement of this power button better suits that accidental proclivity. The touch screen on this Dell is not as touchy as on a few of my other laptops.I have yet to use this Dell on my Wifi Network, and have only disabled Bluetooth as I only use it on my other mobile devices, but if and when I complete setup (security that is) I may turn my Network device back on and try this baby out. That for me is a big IF.The only negative with this purchase was receiving a power adapter that powers only the adapter. The light on the adapter is a bright glowing green but further up that cable it fails to charge the battery which powers on the laptop. I discovered this after supposedly letting it charge the Dell's battery for approximately four hours before powering the laptop on. After one hour of use it indicated low battery. Checking the battery status I saw it was at 13% and was not charging. Perhaps the fault lies with the connection (plug) to the laptop. Too bad it is not detachable. Its other features such a, earphone plug, USB and HDMI ports are well placed for easy accessibilityI have other Dells and other laptops that may be inoproble but their power adapters are thankfully still quite operable and very useful in this situation. The one currently in use has powered my Refubished Dell Latitude 3189 to 74% as I typed this review.Despite that one minor setback, so far so good. I am now fully charged. It states fast charging and it is.

IT WAS A MISTAKE BUYING IT REFURBISHED
The ONE STAR RATING is for the refurbished experience. Though I hear Dell is infamous for crappy laptop hinges. So take what you will from my review...I thought I made a good deal with this cute refurbished Dell Latitude 3189 laptop. It was my first personal laptop and I was thrilled to have it. I really enjoyed it … until recently (just under 1.5 years later). The left hinge started to get wonky and tiny pieces of black plastic would fall out. I tried to be careful when opening it each time, but of course it only got worse. Past the point of returning it, I bought hinges from Amazon and decided to try to replace them myself. I was following this youtube video - which is too short and doesn't follow through with the whole procedure properly; but I was going to be brave and try anyway and figure it out.I easily removed the bottom of the laptop and proceeded to remove the battery’s screws. Until I got to the anchor screw – which was completely STRIPPED (see photo of silver screw). Who puts in a completely stripped out screw in a laptop? Did they use a drill to do this?! No matter what I tried, it could not be removed. On to Plan B: I decided I’ll try to tighten the screws – that are on the hinge itself (see photo of the topside of the hinge) – to the base of the computer. Only to realize the screw holes/holders that are part of the base – are not only made of cheap plastic, but they are STRIPPED AND BROKEN (see photo). In the photo you can see a close up of one of the holders meant to hold the screw in place. See how it’s stripped and there’s plastic thread dust everywhere. Like the person who handled my computer used a drill to screw in the screws. Another photo shows the right side of the hinge’s screw holder. Sorry, it’s rather blurry, but hopefully you can see how stripped the screw’s holder is. All this I blame on the “refurbisher”. And how on earth would anyone use something that would cause plastic strings to fly everywhere? And not even bother to vacuum it up?But lesson learned. When I start shopping around for a laptop, it will be NEW – NOT refurbished - and probably NOT A DELL (Well... I MAY buy another Dell, just not a refurbished one).I would also be very careful about ordering any refurbished electronics from Factory Renew. Seriously. This purchase has left a bad taste in my mouth. Blech!!As for the laptop itself. As I said, I enjoyed using it, even though it was rather slow. But I didn't need it for anything other than internet surfing and writing. I also liked the size: Nice and compact and not too heavy. I loved having a touch screen - which was responsive and didn't lag. Battery life was decent. The touchpad was good. A light tap and it would respond pretty well. I would've considered this a great value for the money ($190) - if it weren't for the hinge issue and the refurbished debacle. I will miss this little laptop.

Good laptop for basic use.
What I dislike is that the plug in power supply is no good. Would have to send the whole computer back as they will not send another power supply. I had a spare power supply so I am good. So because of this I rate it over all in the middle. You would think they would test their power supply before sending it. Over all working well after a few days. Bought this for going on a 2 week trip and will need if for work emails, and booking rooms and such. Perfect for this. WiFi adapter runs over 200 mbps which surprised me as 40-80 is all I need. Fits the bill. Too bad about the power supply and the inability to have Dell simply send another.

For me, 5 stars but ...
... the "e" is harder to press than other keys. For me, not a problem. I bought this to play older games that I installed from discs I own. I do not plan on typing much more than my "player name". I do not plan on using it for the internet, so I did not bother setting that up & will not be hassled by updates. The battery came charged at 92%. I played an action game for 2.5 hours and brought the battery to around 50%. It's charging now with no issues. If there are weird circumstances regarding battery life or charging, I will not hesitate to update this review. :)
