Helps our kids by showing how Kate could deal with challenges, adversity and stress
My Strong Mind tells the story of a girl that has some difficulties but is gradually able to overcome all of them. She reads a book about strong minds and learns that she can tackle any challenge with a positive attitude. And then she becomes more active 🏀, she learns to get ready to school by herself, surprising her parents, and she even enjoys presenting to her class. She learns that "it is ok to try and fail, because every time I try I can get a little bit better". 💆🏽 Kate even learns how to be patient and speak up when she is treated in a way that she doesn't like. 🌟In the end Kate learns that her mind can grow a little bit stronger every day, and feels proud of herself, and so do her parents. This book, written by a mental toughness coach, teaches kids about commitment, control, challenges and confidence, which are directly related to wellbeing, aspirations and performance.Mental toughness is a personality trait that can be developed or improved and reading Niels's book is certainly a great way to do that and help our kids to live more positive lives by learning how to deal with adversity, stress and challenges.

Encourages a child who struggles with being mentally flexible and following routines
A counselor recommended I get this for my daughter, and it is indeed a story that encourages and also validates my daughter with her struggles. It's perfect that character struggles with getting ready for school on time, as that's one of my daughter's greatest challenges right now, despite a set routine checklist and other tools and strategies we've tried. This has been another tool to help my daughter. Illustrations are cute and plot and tone is not sentimental or didactic, which makes it a good story to connect with children and to read again and again.

Great Book!
Mental toughness is a skill all children should be taught to help them navigate growing up. This is an excellent book for introducing growth mindset and positive thinking!! As an educator (and a parent of 4) I would use this in K-5 classrooms and all parents. I gave it 5 stars for the clear, concise text. The child is taking ownership of her happiness and attitude. The pictures are well done.

A good introduction to mental health for kids
I have a nonprofit for abuse prevention that focuses on the bond between mothers and daughters. This book is a good introduction to the awareness of and importance of mental health in children. Kate tackled things with no help from an adult until the end, which is a little unrealistic but I can see how it speaks to “mental toughness” which the author is focused on. A good book that I’m adding to my list.

Great teaching tool!
I love this book! It’s exactly what I was looking for! I find it to be another teaching tool to teach my kids how to train their thoughts into being more positive. Even when we aren’t winning or can’t do an activity yet, be proud of doing your best! But the biggest reason I love this book is the way the girl in the story interacts with friends who are being mean and the parent who is on playing on the phone and not paying attention to her. It is important to me to try and teach my kids to respectfully stand up for themselves and I feel this book does just that.

Excellent book for my child
This book was very well written and has a lot of very good points in it for developing a strong mind. I would like to point out that it does not paint the father as a lazy and inattentive. He was watching TV and looking at his phone probably because he had a hard day at work plus he went to go watch her at her basketball game. I love this book and please buy it

Great skill building reinforcement
Great illustrations and scripting give kids words and actions to help them become resilient! We are super happy with this book for our twice-exceptional autistic 10 year old boy. It is a good companion to our purchase of "Hey Warrior" by Karen Young (Hey Sigmund) and other efforts to instill a growth mindset.

My 8year old wanted this book
She gets such a boost and strength from reading this. Such positive re-enforcement from the words she reads it over and over and it helps her to come up with great strategies on her own! Thank you!
