Ordered the variety pack of these just to see what their various kits looked like. I am very pleased with these kits. They are not the absolute best quality I've ever seen but they are by far not the worst. They are easy to assemble with the proper tools and they look very nice with the turned blanks I've made. Will definitely be getting more of these I'm the future when I run out of this batch.

It was a Christmas present, but husband was happy to get them!

I had never made a pen before purchasing this kit. Fun and easy to do. I made three in a couple hours for last minute Christmas gifts using some scrap wood. They went over very well. Nice quality kit. Lots of on line videos to show you how. I used 50+ year my old Shop Smith with a mandrel made for it. I’m making 5 more tonight for more gifts.

Easy to put together

Great pen kits for beginners, I also turn a lot of these as a base stock when I go to shows and craft fairs. Inexpensive kit that I can sell and draw people's attention to my area, make a few sales. I also use this kit when experimenting with new materials and ideas.

Nice kit easy to use. The only reason far low rating is the pens tend to close while you write with them. Nice set for beginners.

Kits look good, but there was a real problem for me with some of them. I have probably made 30-40 pens using kits from a major retail woodworking chain. I have never had a problem with those. These Legacy kits are not carefully controlled with regard to the outer diameter of the transmission. A few thousandths oversize will prevent the two pen halves from seating correctly. After encountering problems with two of them, I began to check the remaining ones using a spare brass core tube - using the same end of the tube to check the transmissions. The fit was acceptable on some, but others would not fit together in a manner which would allow the halves to mate correctly. Of 10 kits, four of them had this problem. I also had more difficulty than usual on initial seating of the tips and back ends. I put too much time in my pens to have these types of hassles. I would not recommend or purchase again.
