Exact Size, Easy Install, Good Product
Great product, fits perfectly and will certainly protect the integrity of the hole. Drilled holes and put in the screws with zero issue. The ring is exactly 1 1/8” - Perfect.Timely delivery, well-packaged. FIVE STARS...I would buy AGAIN. I bought three rings at one time and shipping costs were the same as one...suggest buying multiples to save money. Cheers...BlueWaterSailor

An Excellent product. But why more expensive than the 1.5 inch?
A really solid, strong, and smoothly finished piece of metal. No sharp edges. I can't imagine that any predator can chew this successfully, but we must keep an eye on any birdhouses. The customer's (Blue Water Sailor's) photos are a much better view of this item than the seller's photo. This is a flat piece of metal with 2 holes for the 2 screws included. (It also has 2 slight indentations as you can see on photo... don't know what those are for.) And of course the 1 1/8 inch hole.I bought these because house sparrows have now invaded our neighborhood, and I wanted to help protect the native chickadees I've always loved. House sparrows are known for killing other birds brooding, or kill the babies. So at a local store I got some pine chickadee bird houses made by Coveside Conservation Products (made in Maine, very good). Then bought 3 of these metal portal protectors at 4.95 each, plus 6.95 shipping for all three together. Why is Songbird Essentials selling this 1 1/8" one here for 4.95, and selling the 1.5" one for 2.95? Why make it so expensive for people to protect birds? That's why I didn't give 5 stars. But it's a good solid product.Since then, I've found a similar 1 1/8" protector on Etsy for 2.95. So I'll look around more next time for a better deal before buying.

Way Overpriced, But I'd Buy Them Again
After purchasing these, I stopped by our local bird store and picked up another version which were copper. They were a square style with four screws. The Songbird version is round and has two screws, and the material is not copper. I actually prefer that. I also like drilling only 2 holes for screws instead of 4. The Songbird version, being round, is easier to line up and install. The square version was not as forgiving if you don't have it lined up correctly. These are a bit pricey (especially with postage), but I would buy them, knowing what I know now.

Four Stars
Works great and so far so good after an entire season

not the correct size
pros: easy to installcons: It is 1 1/4 inches, not 1 1/8 inches, rendering it useless for my finch birdhouse with a 1 1/8 inch hole.Yes, it is bigger, so the bird can still fit, but I am still getting other animals or birds chewing away at the opening and making it bigger to prey on the what is inside.

Gotta have these or owls and raccoons will get the nesting birds.
Easy to install with a screw driver...I did pound in some small holes in prior to the screws with a pointed tool. Easy peasy.
