BPMN Quick and Easy Using Method and Style: Process Mapping Guidelines and Examples Using the Business Process Modeling Standard

I had been doing plenty of Googling on BPMN for a project my new employer is working on and was looking for more of a best practices guide. I feel that this fit the bill as well as serves as an introduction to the basics, it breaks down the diagrams and processes to formulate them well. I actually plan on using it as a basis for training the rest of the team I'm on.

Helped me get started in using BPMN for my job!

I was very surprised by how short this book is. I checked and Amazon claims it is 124 pages, looking at the book the index starts at page 104. The content is very good, a great overview especially if you have some modeling experience in a different notation. However, there is only so much that can be communicated in. ~100 pages so plenty more time will be needed on part of the reader to actually build skills.

The best start for the beginners. Very clear and logical explanation of the standard for the description needs and beyond it (style and methodology).

If you are still thinking that BPMN is too complex to learn, you need to read this book.In a little more than 100 pages Bruce gives you overview of the BPMN elements which are really useful and their meaning plus shows you how to use them properly (and what to avoid). You will also find a step by step procedure for creating good BPMN diagrams.When the book finally arrived (normally I buy Kindle editions, but have all 4 books by Bruce in paper) I felt excited like a kid before Christmas and read the book in a little more than an hour. The book promises "BPMN quick and easy" and delivers on this promise. Highly recommended.

Le livre, écrit par un coauteur de la spécification BPMN, est intéressant et facile à lire même pour quelqu'un dont l'anglais n'est pas la langue maternelle.Le livre est assez didactique, avec une première partie sur les bases du BPMN (level 1) qui sont creusées par la suite. Les exemples et contre-exemples sont nombreux pour aider à la compréhension de la méthode et du style à appliquer. L'auteur aiguille également le lecteur vers d'autres formalismes lorsque BPMN n'est pas le plus adapté à la tâche. Je conseille donc ce livre aussi bien pour les débutants que pour les "experts" qui reverront certainement leur copie.

It's clear and unambiguous language and structured approach are valuable, as well as the emphasis on key concepts, a proven method and a set of meaningful style rules. All I need to know to create useful BPMN. And nothing else that would just waste time.Already ordered his book about DMN.
