Pretty Hard to Beat for a Novice! Read Prior to Buying your Kit!
I am 100% without a doubt, can not be disputed noob (novice) when it comes to reloading. How-ever, having seen a great price on Amazon for a Hornady LNL... well lets say my basement shop just got more crowded.I have not reloaded yet. Still acquiring the little bits and pieces (there are many do-dads to buy). This book helped a lot with some decisions. It's a pretty quick read, I crushed it while listening to an episode of Justified if that gives you a time to finish example. After reading it I kinda wished I had bought a single stage kit first. But instead I will buy one and practice on that before going high volume on my progressive. If you can not afford both styles of reloading, maybe read this first then decide what you really "need". You may be shocked to know that most people push the super fancy expensive progressive presses when you probably don't need them.... shocking I know!I would not consider it a reference as such. I'm not sure I'll refer to it again but for friend that showed an interest I will loan it to them for sure. In that case the cost for the book is about right. The info in here seems up to date as of 2015. Again based on my recent research, not experience.I'd like to give a nod to the author for writing in a plain and educational way. I never felt like he was trying to prove his vast experience etc... NO one likes a know it all and reading a book by one is the suck. So good job Mr. Gregersen. I will have to look into your other offerings soon!

Excellent and simple to read guide to reloading ammunition
Great book for anyone new to reloading or, like me, who needs a refresher because I haven't done it for the last 30 years. Steven Gregersen writes in an easy-to-read, easy-to-understand style. He covers all the basics, but lets you know what's really important and where the potential dangers and pitfalls are. He doesn't just explain how to reload, but does a very good job of separating the critical "must do" items from optional steps that you just need to check, but may not need to do every time you reload. This book does not provide load recipes, but Gregersen explains a lot about how they work and why you need to follow those manuals. This book is a quick read, just 150 pages, but really only about 100 everyone should read. The other 50 pages are about different equipment that may not apply to you, and about loading shotgun shells all readers may or may not be interested in reading. I earmarked and highlighted several important points I don't want to forget, like when and why you should use a small base sizing die (its not for everything, but it matters if you are reloading for ARs), and another section on how to find the exact right bullet seating depth. Its full of stuff like that I'm sure will help when I actually get my reloading equipment. He has a great section on different bullet types, when to use different types of bullets, and when you would be wasting your money on the more expensive ones. I highly recommend any new reloaders read this book BEFORE you start buying reloading equipment and materials. You'll have a better understanding of the wide variety of reloading equipment out there and what will probably be right for you.

It's a good book, however....
This book contains good information and will help anyone interested in learning to reload ammunition. It's a good book; so why only three stars? Well at the time I purchased this book, I also purchased, "The Insanely Practical Guide To Reloading Ammunition" by Tom McHale. By comparison, if I were to buy (as a novice) only one book, it would have to be McHale's book. It, in my opinion, is simply superior in thought progression and teaching the basics. Clarity is the word that comes to mind. To my knowledge there were no use of terms that were not immediately defined. I just really enjoyed reading the book and the occasional humor displayed by the author. Now if you have the money and desire further exposure to the topic at an introductory level, "The Beginner's Guide To Reloading Ammunition is a good book with useful information and I'm sure I will refer to it again. I do not regret purchasing it. It also addresses reloading shotgun shells, which McHale's book does not. Had it been the only beginner's book I had read, I would easily have given it four stars. It's a helpful book. However, I did read another and thus (by comparison) the three star rating. Others may feel differently who have also read both books and that's fine. I hope they share their views as well. I can only state my own.

beginners couldnt get a better starting book.
If you are new to reloading, this book couldnt be a better place to start. The author could have not done a better job explaining the basics, common since and safety in the process. When you get it, I suggest that you do as I did and read it it three days in a row as I did, then refer back to it when you actually start the process. There is only one way to reload ammunition, and that is the correct way, and the author makes it abundantly clear throughout the book. He covers everything in the process from start to finish, and as far as the tools you will need, if you are only reloading for your hunting rifle, everything you will need most likely will be under 75 dollars, and will fit in your back pocket. Oh, yeah. Did I mention safety? He does all through his book. Excellent job, Sir.

For the starter it tells you what you need
If you haven't got the time to do some decent searching on the web this is a great book for the starter. I read this cover to cover today in preparation for starting and it has got a lot of helpful comments without being condescending or above the person who knows nothing. In comparing to the web it is all in one package but the web via youtube gives a lot of insight into what you will be doing. I've spent hours on the tube and reading forums and this book takes it all and makes it simple to understand, I prefer the demo videos available as his step by step guide left me feeling a bit anxious but that is progress. All in all a good read that is worth the money.
