This is an excellent workbook for children of about 6-7 (Year 2). The work is divided into topics taught throughout the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms and there are problems in the following areas: numbers, money, length, time, weight, measures, capacity and lots of review problems to make sure the children understand the topics. Answers to the problems are given in a seperate teachers book Maths Plus Word Problems 2: Teacher's Book , but as it was fairly expensive compared to the cost of the workbook and I was using the book at home, and not in a classroom, I never bothered to buy that. It isn't necessary, as the problems are fairly easy at this stage, but I might have to invest in an answer book as the children get older and the questions harder! Overall, this is a really good buy and has the added advantage that it is one of the few books I have found which has a good amount of money questions and which is also published in the UK. Good practice for the SATs and to improve maths ability generally.

Challenging and fun. 5 stars.
Excellent mental maths problems, presented with pictures and fun scenarios which make maths fun and challenging. Unlike other tedious maths training aids (e.g. Mathletics) this gives real problems in context and requires greater mental agility - not that your child will notice that, they will just find it more amusing and engaging. This one is ideal for Year 1 children. The only maths book my daughter actually asks to use!

Exactly what my Y2-Y3 boy needed to improve his maths skills
Divided in various sections related to different word problem topics such as time, money etc. Consistent and easy to follow. Fully recommend!

Great litle book.
I got this book through yesterday. I highly recommend it.Book 2, starts at a very easy level for children Year 1 onwards or people with a learning disability/special need. My 11 year old son loves it (he has got autism). He love the pictures and how it is set out. I bought all the books up to Book 6.

Nice for dipping into. Context based maths has been used and there is a variety of problems for most areas of Maths.

A good book which I use to dip in and out of for AFL questions, the just substitute the numbers for similar hwk practice
