Learn To Swim: Teaching You to Teach Your Child to Swim

BUY THIS BOOK, SKIP THE OTHERS!!!
This book is AMAZING!I followed most of it, including reserving a room at a hotel with the type of pool suggested in Benjamin Roberts's book. I was able to teach my fearful kid using this method alongside EFT Tapping. So, the right pool, right mind-body support, and this book enabled my kid to go from not wanting to put his face in the water to swimming a round-trip lap in a lengthy pool.I bought most of the kid-swim books on Amazon looking for a way to get my kid to swim, and they're all crap compared to this one. As a teacher, I can say that wholeheartedly.I don't know the author, I have no stake in whether he sells more. I just wanted to support his good work.

Bad quality control
Our book starts at page 43 and goes backward to page 21. Then it begins at page 1 and the last page of the book is page 20! For the higher price of just a 40 page paperback this is very disappointing. If you don't mind starting in the middle of the book reading until the end and then starting in the middle and reading backwards............ Unfortunate because this major printing blunder overshadows the content that seems to be pretty good.

Not bad, but I would not buy it again.
This little book was disappointing to me. I wanted something to use to teach my young grandsons beginning swimming lessons at our local pool. With COVID, all the beginning classes were full. This was more for people with pools at home, I guess. In any case, I did not find much helpful information at all.

Wish I’d Bought It Earlier
Really useful ideas. My husband and I have been relying on the local YMCA and the instructors are great but our 4yo is not progressing very quickly and is far from watersafe. I wish I’d read the suggestions regarding the goggles sooner and how to teach the taking of the big breath. Yes, there are methods for teaching that. So far the book has been well worth the money.

Good information
Good information. Easy to understand. Teaches basic swimming skills by using one, main stroke: freestyle/front crawl. Teaches proper technique in a kid-friendly format.

Good book so far
My review may be a little premature--I haven't gotten very far into it yet, but I found the advice on handling children's initial fears very helpful. My five-year-old grandson was very "hydrophobic" at first, but now he is eager to get in the water and "swim" with his head under.

Helpful read
I'm new at teaching swim lessons and sometimes get lost in differing methods. This has helped clear up many questions.

Simply brilliant!
My 5 year old daughter wasn’t enjoying her swimming lessons at all and getting quite distressed so we withdrew her and planned to just go to the pool regularly to make sure she enjoyed the water and built confidence. I bought this book to get an idea of key skills I could teach her when she was ready but it was so easy to follow that I ended up teaching her step by step as laid out in the book. She’s gone from extremely nervous and too scared to put her face under to almost full swimming (we are at the final stage of combining strokes and breathing). Importantly, she now loves the water and we’ve both had great fun.

Excellent .. back to basics
Great book.. starts with the absolute basics. My daughter can already swim but was having difficulty swimming for any length of time as she couldn't quite grasp breathing properly.. this book equipped me with the necessary skills to help her

Highly recommended
Fantastic book!! I really wanted to be the one to teach my kids how to swim, the problem I had was I can't remember a time when I couldn't swim. So I had no idea how I was taught myself, therefore i struggled to find the best way to teach my kids. This book has been a great help!

Excellent guide
Having paid for numerous professional lessons without success, this book was a great help to my daughter in teaching her children to swim and is a sensible step by step guide.

No-fear approach
I haven't read through it all but we have started doing the initial exercises with my daughter (ie goggles, big breath in, face in the water) and it has already helped her feel a bit more confident in the water. It seems like a very intuitive, gradual approach and I like it.
