Good Drawknife
A bit clunky, but a good drawknife overall. It was sharp when I got it, contrary to some of these other reviews. Of course, a little extra sharpening never hurts.I think it cuts wood quite well--tried it on both dry and live wood. The handles have not come off yet.Good product.

Came sharp, Worked great.
I read several reviews where people said their blade was dull and took a lot of work but I went ahead and made the purchase. Received mine In the mail and found that unlike others mine was very sharp. The blade did not need any extra work and it was ready to be used out of the box. Gave it a test run on some American Hornbeam and it worked flawlessly. I believe this is a good deal for what you are paying for and what you are receiving.Update: used this on some very rough reclaimed barn wood to make counter tops out of. Did a really good job scraping off the rough tops of the boards. Knife is good, I would recommend.

Ok. You get what you pay for.
I knew that for around $30 that this drawknife was not going to be fancy or high quality. Out of the shipping box this drawknife does not impress. The detachable handles are a nice feature with functional design. The blade was a bit of a disappoint as I had at least expected something mildly sharp. It is so far from sharp that I ran my thumb across the length of it while applying a little pressure leaving no mark. I also hadn't expected the slight curve to the metal across the length, visible in the pics of the blade on a piece of wood that is very close to flat. The "sharpening" procedure used to shape the bevel also left 4 little waves in the bevel surface. This knife is currently undergoing a flattening of the bevel and a serious sharpening. I am using a technique So far it seems to be taking on an edge just fine. The steel does not appear to be too soft. It is going to be a while before the blade is finished as there are other demands on my time. This drawknife seems to be an ok choice if you are a hobbyist with more time than money and you are willing to put some work into it. Not a tool that I would recommend to anyone that wants or needs to use it right out of the box.

Good product for the price
Turned out to be a good purchase. I'm not making a living with it, just repairing my log cabin. It is well designed and stayed sharp for pure chineesium. Worked great.

This worked great!
I was a little iffy about buying this because of some of the reviews, but I'm glad I bought it anyway. It came sort of semi-sharp like others have stated, but after only a few minutes sharpening, & tightening the nuts on the handles, it was good to go. I used it to scrape the bark off of more than a few logs. It held the edge and did a great job. I have used it daily for over a week and only touch up sharpen when I'm done for the day. I would highly recommend this draw knife.

Seems like a decent blade...
Was not sharp out of the box. Took a little time with a stone and got a decent edge on it. Not thrilled with the paint on the non-beveled side of the blade. It leaves marks on the wood and fouls the stone when sharpening. Otherwise works pretty well once sharp.

Small $ Outlay,, Great Value!
This tool isn’t for everyone but for those of us who need one,,This is the one.Very well constructed and ready to go to work from the box. You can, of course tune up the edge to your preference but not necessary for most applications. Ergonomically perfect, even for my arthritic old wrists. Draws smoothly and blade pitch is easy to control. Even if you’ve never used one it’s a snap to catch on. Lee Valley makes a beautiful tool, with rose wood handles.... hey, I’m stripping timber’s for crying out loud. Good tool, this.

Decent, but needs a good sharpening.
Don't expect this to be sharp out of the box. The first thing I did was to remove the paint on the underside, and flatten it. Then I worked on the bevel. There were machine marks on it, but it didn't take a huge amount of work to get the underside and bevel flat and then polished using a strop. If you're buying a drawknife, you will need to know how to get a good edge on it, so I don't see any big problems with it not arriving sharp. Once sharpened, these are perfectly serviceable, and feel pretty good to use.

Good quality, works well
Worked as expected, arrived good and sharp. By the looks of it keeping it sharp will be an exercise! Will probably buy a curved one next.
