Frommer's Ireland 2020 (Frommer's Complete Guide)

Used to prep for a trip. I found the book to be quite subjective, even opinionated. Author's dislike for Blarney stone kissing, for example, detracts from reading pleasure. Would be great to have a few itinerary suggestions based on intetest.

Was nervous about planning a trip to Ireland but this book did the trick and it included many more destinations than Rick Steves. We went to Dublin (great shopping and dining suggestions— make sure to go to the Wicker Man) and then spent a week exploring the coast. The book was right about how long it takes to drive around the back roads of Ireland ( especially since you’re on the wrong side!). Thank heavens for the chapter of suggested itineraries! Before getting this guide we’d put together one using online info hat would have been a disaster! Also really appreciated the thought provoking treatment of history, arts and Irish music.

In fact, I LIKE the book BECAUSE it's so opinionated (unlike the other reviewer)! I'm really surprised she thought that was a negative, because the writers do their best to warn their readers about overly touristy, overly crowded spots. I appreciated that greatly. It meant I got to see the more authentic Ireland. But always the reviews had enough details so I could tell whether the restaurant/museum/castle/shop/whatever would appeal to me.Other great things in the guide: nice map (including a handy foldout one), pretty pictures all the way through, really helpful weeklong and two week plans so I could figure out which places I should group together and how long it would take to see them, and unlike other guides there weren't vague price ranges but actual prices listed (which was helpful, and the prices were accurate as was all the info in the book). Really grateful I got this book!
