Great scent and good value for the price.
I was impressed by this product. The scent is a bit like cocoa butter. I mixed it with a new recipe for winter day cream and I had to melt it and after I mixed it and poured it in a cream jar. It took almost 3 hours to thicken and I believe it takes a few more hours to form like a real cream.

Texture and Scent
I’ve been buying shea butter from another known company and for some reason it smells like play-doh. I’ve tried mixing it with other ingredients and the smell was horrible. After reading a few reviews, I decided to give Mary Tylor a try and I couldn’t be more pleased. The texture was soft and silky. I loved that they printed the expiration date on the label and it smells like REAL shea butter!!! I’m completely satisfied with my purchase.

The smell is very overpowering but created a good product
I got this shea butter to use in my lotion bars. The first thing i noticed was the scent and that it was incredibly sticky. I really love the moisturizing qualities, the shea butter is doing exactly what i hoped it would but the scent is STRONG. Like overpoweringly so and even when combined with equal parts beeswax and coconut oil, plus quite a bit of essential oil i am having a hard time getting past the smell. I used 35 drops of lavender oil into 4oz each shea butter, beeswax, and coconut oil and the bar still smells like straight up shea butter. The only oil i could get to mask it was a TON of eucalyptus. So, if you dont LOVE the shea butter smell, you may want to consider a different product entirely.

Excellent Shea Butter
I am in the process of switching to a natural/organic skincare routine. I have ordered other Shea butters in the past that are yellow from borututu bark. They were fine but discolored my white clothing/bedding. I gave Mary Taylor's organic Shea a shot because it is ivory and seemed like the company really cared about it's product. I can say it is definitely worth the money. It somehow is not as "greasy" as other shea butters. Doesn't seem to stain my whites at all!

Rancid smell
Quality was great, packaging also great! I was very excited about this product as I am making breastmilk lotion with it. I did a slow melt with coconut oil and the shea butter and I started smelling what smelt like gasoline/chemical like. Didn’t think anything of it as I have never smelt pure shea butter before. I added 2 drops of lavender oil. Put it in the fridge to cool. I was hoping the chemical smell would go away. It did not. It was so bad. I’m not for sure if I should try and melt it back down and add something or just trash it.
