Perfect gift to give a new mom
Where was this book when I was a new mom? I bought this for my friend's baby shower and couldn't help reading the whole book before giving it to her. It covers everything I wish someone would have told me. There are so many helpful tips for taking care of your baby as well as much needed advice on taking care of yourself and your relationship with your partner. It seriously covers EVERYTHING and is written in a positive uplifting way. I look forward to giving this book to all my future mom friends and relatives.

Advise for the first year
Just loved the authors descriptions of the physical and psychological changes during the first year of my baby's life. Would recommend it for every new mother. I also bought one book as a gift for a baby shower. This book was the hit...

Easily digestible and fun to read
This is a good book for mothers who don't have the time to read a week-by-week, everything-you-need-to-know baby manual. Let's be real, as a first time mother with a 6 mo old, I barely have time to brush my hair. There's a lot of information for a mother's self-care, which was unexpected and helpful. I read this book during the coronavirus pandemic so some of the info wasn't relevant (taking the baby out, visiting family and friends, going on date night) but it's a good overview of what to expect during the first year of your baby's life.

Wish I had this book sooner!
I got this book when my baby was about 6 months old and I wish I had it before giving birth! The information is broken down by months (0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 months) which is fantastic when you're a first-time mom and have no idea when your baby is supposed to walk, crawl, or eat real food. It's a fun, easy read with practical and useful advice combined with personal stories and anecdotes. I absolutely loved it!Before having my son, I got so many baby books either as gifts or as purchases to help me feel better prepared for becoming a first-time mom. (Happiest Baby, What to Expect, Your Baby's First Year...the list goes on.) I didn't really finish any of them. Too much information. Too many details. This book is different.Rodriguez is a really good writer. She's clear and concise, interweaving her experience with suggestions for taking care of yourself and your baby. The chapters are short, which makes it easy to knock one out while your baby napping. And bonus, it is so beautifully designed. This will make a great gift for any new mom. What I liked the most was that she includes how important it is for the mom to take care of herself; not just tips on how to take care of the baby. It's reassuring to read her kind guidance of prioritizing sleep in those early months, especially when your new-mom-mind is telling you that you need to do laundry or clean the kitchen. I'm definitely going to include it in any gift baskets for my pregnant friends' baby showers and I suggest you do the same!

Reading it is a waste of time
Don't waste your time reading it. Anyone with a working brain already knows everything that is written in this book, for example, take pictures of a baby, have some rest, have 1 to 1 time with your partner.

Some nice ideas but quite Americanised
Some interesting ideas but book is American so lots of references to paediatrician care, using the hospital nursery and other things not applicable to the UK.Nice layout and illustrations
