It's easier than some make out
The pictorial assembly instructions are very clear, but that hasn't prevented some whining and overthinking in these reviews. Packaging is extremely efficient, requiring only unfolding of the unit and installation of one support pin (E1) for each of the lower three shelves (everybody agrees it's easy to this point), but then there is the top shelf, which some have made into some kind of 3D puzzle. For verbal learners, a few words can apparently be worth a half dozen pictures, so here it is: As shown in the instructions, install one hinge pin (C1), using the predrilled holes, then tilt the shelf and push the pin into its hole. Bring the shelf close to level, resting it on the support pin installed earlier. Push the other hinge pin into its hole on the other side, then press the shelf down onto it. This you will have to do like you mean it. Install the last two screws from underneath, and there you have it: a good place to keep your outdated hard copy of Brittanica.Elapsed assembly time once unpacked, 8 minutes, 34 seconds. The second one took 5:07. Now that the top shelf is hinged just like the others, there is no need to remove it to fold and transport the bookcase, but the four support pins should be removed to allow unit to fold completely flat and avoid marring the finish. A hinged fold-flat unit cannot be expected to be as sturdy as a more typical and bulky piece of furniture. These units are excellent for what they are, not to mention for what they cost.

We like it but . . .
The good: it is real wood and a good design. It's attractive and sturdy too. It's lightweight and pretty easily to assemble if you can figure out how. The bad: the wood is very very soft and chips easily. The paint is pretty terrible, if you're going to put it where it can be seen, you're gonna have to repaint. I had to touch up a lot of spots, but it's going in a bedroom, so it's not a huge deal.Just know this, the only way to install the top shelf is to pre-mount one shelf peg-bracket, turn the whole unit upside down, then install the opposite bracket with the peg already in the side hole. The mounting holes on the shelf itself don't all line up either, so put a screw through one hole and just make your own 2nd hole with a cordless drill & a screwdriver bit.All-in-all, we like it, but it's definitely over-priced for the quality.

Easy to assemble, mostly
I got this in the mail today, and was very excited to start putting it together. It comes 3/4 assembled, and all you have to do is attached on the top shelf, and the 3 pegs to securely catch the other shelf (4 pegs were already installed. 5 minutes and the pegs were done. However I battled with the dang top shelf for 30+ minutes before I said to heck with it and installed only one of the rotating mechanisms that allow it to be flipped up. I'm going to install an L- bracket instead on the other spot because no matter how I tried I could not manipulate the brackets and shelf together in the tight space. Winsome Wood kindly attached all the other ones for me, but not the top. Its not a big deal, and its not like I am ever planning on collapsing the bookshelf. Its the perfect size to put next to the dresser that I will be using as a changing table for my son, and with the baskets, it stashes all the diaper changing necessities that I don't want to have piled up in my line of sight but need easy access to. If I had been able to get that top shelf on without the l-bracket, I would have given this a 5 star rating. Its very sturdy and will last my son a long time. Now to anchor it to the wall so that its not used as a ladder...

I Bought this in January 2018 for $52.00
Now it costs $76.00, which is too much. I thought originally $35.00 would be a fair offering to the retail capitol of the Universe but paid $56.00 with tax. $76.00 is too much but if you have money you don't know what to do with and need a narrow shelf this is actually a very nice product. I have a black one and use it as a hutch to hold law books and loose leaf note books - It's sturdy has a nice finish and it doesn't have that cheapo o dear not one of those particular board things with the peculiar smell etc.

Nice shelving unit
I bought this shelf mainly for the purpose of holding a cable box we have in our bedroom and then I added some other decorative items. I measured the cable box and compared it to the shelf measurements given in the description. It should have been a perfect fit with a little room on each side. Unfortunately, the measurements included the sides of the shelving unit (which are fairly wide) so the cable box doesn't fit on the shelf. There also isn't a top on the unit so I had to balance the cable box on the very top and luckily the sides are wide enough to hold it. Other than the fact that our cable box doesn't fit on the shelf (which is the reason we bought this particular shelving unit), it is very nice and easily put together. It does come in a few pieces that need to be assembled but took my husband very little time to put it together. It also has nice, tall spaces between the shelves for a few of the taller items I placed on it.

Once you know what you're doing, it's great!
It's a simple, nice shelf but to repeat what other reviewers have said, assembly can be challenging if you haven't put this shelf together before. To get the top shelf into place, I had to beat it down to get it over the second bracket. I kept trying to push the shelves far enough apart to just slide it over, but that didn't work and I finally figured out the trick after reading another review. You're going to have to put some muscle into it. For those who are wimps like me, I put an oven mitt over my fist for padding as I pounded it down and that helped. All other parts of assembly are very easy, it's just that very top shelf that gave me trouble. But once it's there, you're good to go!I wish that it had come fully assembled, but for the price I can't really complain. I've got the unit on carpet and it seems very sturdy. Very light and easy to carry. Nothing was broken when it arrived. There were a few scuff marks, but it's nothing a black permanent marker won't cover up. I'm considering ordering a second one!

I donβt think the price is fair for the material, plus it is somewhat easy to Assemble till you get to the top shelf...
