Patterns for College Writing: A Rhetorical Reader and Guide

If you're buying this, it's probably for a class, and I apologize.I too bought this for a class, and it's actually a pretty good book. Not worth the price, but no college textbooks are. But anyways, there are lots of stories which deal with contemporary issues, and it's all really modern (I was surprised to read a page talking about Obama, I guess I was used to outdated books which still listed Bush as president) and it's a mix of classic literature (such as The Lottery) with modern issues (such as the debate of whether or not football is too dangerous for kids). It also has chapters about things like narrative writing, persuasive writing.I don't think anyone would crack open this book more than once, but it's not a read that will put you to sleep. It'll keep you entertained for a while.

The book is divided into helpful categories - narration, cause-effect, exemplification, etc. The essays attached to each section are short, but excellent. Plus, there are several questions at the end of each - "purpose and audience," "comprehension," "style and structure," and "journal entry." At the end of each unit is a list of possible student essay topics. Poetry, a little fiction, and illustrations are also included. I love this book!

Book is in great shape. My son says that it is the exact same book as the hard cover. It will definitely get him through his dual credit English class

I purchased the Patterns for College Writing by Laurie Kirszner to use in my high school classroom for dual credit students. This edition has several major changes from the last edition. Overall, I enjoy using this book and have found it to be helpful.

This book was in horrible condition, it was not stated in the description how back the book look. Some of the pages are stuck together truly disappointed 🤦🏻‍♀️👎🏼.

Amazon had the best price.
