This starter works great and was easy to install in my Artic Cat.

This starter was almost half the price the dealer wanted for the same starter. Went in easy in fact it took me longer to get the tools assembled then it did to put the starter in my Artic Cat ATV. Original equipment part was $300. Works great, no problems.

Worked great. A little bigger that stock. Need to twist it upside down to fit through the hole.

The diameter is a little larger than the original one but not so much that any modifications or removing the exhaust heat shield is required. Just rotate the starter 180 degrees so the 12 volt post is facing away from the engine block and lube the o- ring for easy installation. Saved a lot of money with this purchase.

12-13-22: I bought this starter since it was the “Amazon Choice” starter for my ATV. MY old starter was going bad (brushes) and I needed a replacement. I took the old one out very easy - no moving of any parts. This new one, when I went to install it, I had to loosen the carburetor and turn it sideways so I could get this new carburetor, which was slightly larger in diameter, installed. Once it was lined up and ready to get bolted in, installation was a breeze. The positive post (bolt on starter), after the starter was installed, was at the 1 o’clock position (same as the OEM). And the ground went on the left installation bolt.Other than having to loosen the carburetor to get the starter installed, it was a 10 minute job. It took about 2 minutes to remove the old starter - one nut, two bolts and pry out the starter. If the starter has been in for a long time, use a long pry bar to pry the starter out of the hole. There is an o-ring which seals the starter to the housing. You may want to spray some lubricant in this area to loosen up any dirt or gunk that may have gotten in there.The starter that was removed has been in the ATV for over 6 years - the ATV gets ridden quite a bit in summer - let’s see if this one makes it that long.I have had this starter in the ATV for a few day so I’ll update this review in the future.

I bought this starter in November and installed it on my 2005 arctic cat 400 4x4 automatic. It worked flawlessly and I was extremely satisfied with my purchase until one day in June it stopped working completely.

The old starter was so warn out, the armature was actually grinding against the magnets, making a horrible shrieking noise. The new one sounds like a modern motorcycle starter straight from the factory and cranks fast. It was super-easy to install, already included the O-ring (put a little grease on it before sliding it in), and everything lined up perfectly. I'm very pleased.

No complaints on the starter. Came packaged well for travel. The only heads up I would give is that this starter is a bit bigger around. Made it a bit harder to get in over the exhaust guard. Had to use a bit more force putting new one in than getting original out. But at the end of the day it fit and it worked! I have a Suzuki Eiger 400
