many issues
1- they didn't include "QR" code as they said they will in the package so can't get the drivers.2- the link they did put in amazon for drivers don't work and it is expired too old.3-they didn't even specify if it works with Linux or not , in the description it says it does Doesn't support Linux , while in the product details it says it does. which is it ?users say it works but the product page has contradicted info.the CD they included is a stupid idea who still use optical CD in 2020?they could easily given a QR code instead or printed permanent link on paper. but they didn't do either and gave a useless piece of paper that shows how to install it from CD or how to to do it in windows device manager, as if it is detected, to begin with. the device works coz the blue led work, but drivers are not easy to come by if I found driver for it will update this , windows 10 and Linux didn't detect it yet.

Solid Performance at a good price!
I noticed a bulk of the reviews for this product are referring to some sort of a Bluetooth 4.0 product. Important to note that I purchased this product because I needed Bluetooth 5.0 for the added range and bandwidth that it provides. I did in fact receive a Bluetooth 5.0.Notes:On Windows10 x64 - this device is "plug and play", but it will only install the generic windows system drivers. You can and you should follow the download link provided to install the correct system driver. Upon doing so, the dongle will show as "Realtek Bluetooth 5.0 Adapter" in the device manager. It's possible that you could be missing some functionality if you do not install the correct Realtek driver.IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL FOLKS UPGRADING FROM A DIFFERENT USB DEVICE IN WINDOWS: YOU MUST GO INTO YOUR DEVICE MANAGER AND REMOVE ALL YOUR CURRENT USB DEVICES TO PREPARE THEM TO PAIR WITH THIS NEW DONGLE.Performance:This dongle performs as expected. I can go approx 50-60 feet and through one wall before the connection gets flaky. So the range is as advertised. This was a worthy and affordable upgrade. My old USB 4.0 dongle lasted for a good 5 years (purchased in March 2015) but it did not have good range and connection was flaky in recent month if more than one device connected.Connection stability is good, no problems observedFinding and pairing to devices is good, no problems observedConnecting after turning on device is fast and stable, no problems observed

Wished I read the other reviews first
You must use the CD to install the drivers because the link provided in the Amazon description doesn't work. Seriously, if we are using CD's to install the drivers, we might as well use an FTP server while we are at it. Software doesn't work and it doesn't support BT5, though most ppl won't notice it. You CAN NOT use the blue tooth drivers that come with windows or download the drivers. If you don't have an optical drive or don't want to install third party software to use something that should be supported in the OS drivers, you won't be able to use it (though it will identify the blue tooth radio is there, you won't be able to pair devices (not even a mouse)).

Bluetooth 5.0 as advertised
I bought this used and the disc was damaged, if you need to download the drivers you can search for NB409 online, as this is mentioned in the instruction booklet (disc says RTL8671B). The firmware version indicates this supports Bluetooth 5.0 as advertised.Using it with Apple AirPods shows mono audio at 16 bit 8000 Hz. The sound quality sounds like an old telephone call. When using it only as headphones with no microphone though the audio sounds perfectly clear.

Great and easy to set up!
I have a windows 7 desktop computer. This included a DVD/CD to insert into for windows 7 machines to download a software to pair this adapter with bluetooth technology, however, I just tried to figure it out myself by plugging in the bluetooth adapter, and windows downloaded the driver software. Now, in the corner of my screen (in the system tray), it shows a bluetooth icon. I clicked on it and clicked on add device. Put my headphones into pairing mode, and it showed them. I clicked on them and it added the device -- so there is no need to download the software if you have windows 7 like it states. Only thing you have to do is go to your main sound and right click and click on playback devices to set the bluetooth headphones as default so they play out of them and not other speakers that are plugged into your PC. I am very happy with this purchase because now I can use my bluetooth electronics with a desktop that didnt have Bluetooth capabilities before. Thanks for a great product!

look elsewhere, not worth the $9 donation
Doesn't work, no drivers for the specified chip it supposedly uses. On the latest version of windows 10 and I'm not tech illiterate, I truly scoured the internet for this RTL671b version of the driver and nothing. Plug and play yes but it unstable/spotty and is not even at Bluetooth 4.0

Highly recommend, unit works
I'm using this Bluetooth adapter to give my desktop computer Bluetooth connectivity. With in a few seconds of pluging in the unit, windows found the device and installed the necessary drivers. Once the drivers are installed, pair Bluetooth devices as you normally do in windows. I use it for a Bluetooth connection to a portable speaker.Highly recommend, unit works, range is good, and unit is nice and small.Pros:* Simple and effective* Auto installs drivers on win10* Works with any USB port (connected to a computer)Cons:* No

Useless without drivers and can't download them
Same comments as Fido below. I don't have an optical drive and there is no driver for RTL8671B on the internet. Windows finds and installs drivers that cause the blue led to light up but none of my devices connect. Will update as well if I'm able to find drivers.

Poor quality with fake chip, doesn't support BLE 5
I was having problems with this adapter whenever I ran an app that required BT 5 support - the adapter would just stop working. And, yes, I installed the drivers that came with the adapter. So, I removed the circuit board from the adapter (easily done, since it's just press-fit, not soldered) and had a look. The chip ID is Realtek 8761BUV. That doesn't appear to be a real product ID. Realtek has a similar product ID, 8761AUV, but it's just a BLE 4 chip, not BLE 5. My guess is that the chip is a counterfeit and not BLE 5 compatible, though the driver does identify it to Windows as BLE 5.At any rate, it doesn't work as a BLE 5 device for me. If all you actually need is a BLE 4 adapter to work with your keyboard and mouse, it does at least work with those.

False Claims
Perhaps this particular Bluetooth 5.0 dongle is very good. That is providing that the seller advertises it accurately for what it's intended for. I happen to be running Windows XP 32 bit on 3 computers which, if it were true to claim, I probably would have had a good buying experience. The seller threw in with their product description that this dongle would work with Windows XP. So I bought with confidence only to find that when I went to install the drivers off the mini disk, a message immediately came up telling me that Windows XP was not supported. So now I had to pack up everything and get an RMA from Amazon to sent it back. Thankfully, the return postage was free and I got my MasterCard refunded promptly. Thank you Amazon for looking out for me just in case I get otherwise duped!

DOES NOT WORK
I have an Asus laptop w/ Windows 10.I followed the instructions:1)Disabled/uninstalled my current bluetooth driver.2) Went to the download link on the product description because I have no CD-Drive.3)Tried installing the driver but it would not install. Kept getting a message saying "unauthorized bluetooth device detected" even though I uninstalled my own bluetooth driver.4)Plugged in anyway to see if it can work without driver. It didn't.I was really excited to finally be able to get my hands on a 5.0 version BT dongle. But alas it was too good to be true.

VERY IMPORTANT!! PLEASE READ!
Included in the package is a CDROM with drivers, this Bluetooth dongle will ONLY work if you install the drivers!!! And as far as I can tell the drivers ARE NOT available online which means,1 - You will need a CDROM. My PC didn't have one but my dad's laptop did so I had to drive over there copy everything from the CDROM to his laptop then upload it to my Google Drive2 - You can never lose the CDROM because the moment you reformat or switch PCs the dongle will not workWhat I would suggest (even if you have a CDROM) is to copy everything on the CD to your PC then upload everything to Google Drive (or OneDrive) so you will always have it

Bluetooth 5.1 actually
Great BlueTooth Dongle to sum.... in specific newsThe LMP of this dongle is 10, which makes it a Bluetooth 5.1. The Differences are minimal and the end result is negligibly different, not that important of a distinction, but needed to have this product's advertising remain relevant. The plug and play is not an option as while windows has detected a default bluetooth device, it remained that the dongle was unusable without the included disc's drivers.sound works, I can't really attest to the quality unfortunately as I do not possess a good pair of earphones in bluetooth format, really the range and quality of signal is what should really be checked here. The signal worked at about 5 meter distance... through a regular drywall I don't have my setup near where I'd be able to test the distance accurately, but I can move about in a medium sized room just fine despite the dongle being placed pointed the opposing way.
