HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
My husband is a podiatrist and was writing prescriptions for Amlactin for his patients with severely dry skin before it was available over-the-counter. Since then it can be purchased without a prescription, but he still recommends it highly and gives samples of it to his patients. I LOVE this stuff personally and so does he. We have a ton of it and never run out. it's great for people with vascular disease, diabetes, and other disorders which cause dry skin, including disorders such as hypothyroidism and just plain dry skin due to weather, sun exposure or whatever.I like this version better than the Amlactin XL because it absorbs into the skin quicker and it is not as thick. It seems a little more creamy than the XL. ALL Amlactin products are fantastic.....just depends on what you are wanting or using it for. The lotion, of course, absorbs the fastest. My husband & I especially like to use Amlactin on our hands. It keeps my fingernails from being brittle, as I do have hypothyroidism. Its a great after sun lotion too, to prevent the peeling you often get. I just can't say enough good things about this stuff.I am a nurse & my husband & I are both members of the American Professional Wound Care Association. When we go to wound care conferences, we often go to the Amlactin booth and pick up as many samples as we can get our hands on. They have many products. All of their lotions are available over-the-counter. No.....we are not paid endorsers.....just big fans of this lotion.

Finally! No more split-open bleeding knuckles!
A sample of this was given to me by an MD. It works!Every winter, I don’t know why, I live in Texas and I don’t use a lot of dry, forced air heat, but the backs of my hands get so dry the skin covering them will crack and bleed. I’ve tried a bunch of different hand lotions. The only thing which helped was Vaseline! I applied that at bedtime. But this is better. It soaks in and is not as greasy as petroleum jelly so when it touches bedsheets or whatever, it’s really no issue. There seems to be some ingredient in it which makes the skin it’s applied to... stretchable! Not just soft and smooth.Yes, I have to occasionally reapply but right from my first application I achieved lasting results within hours! It costs a couple bucks more than most other hand creams (crèmes?) but Amlactin works and for me those others don’t.This company has another product with that name. It comes in the usual upright hand lotion container. It’s not the same; it’s not as thick, it’s not as strong. I recommend the Ultra in the tube. I keep it in my nightstand.

Works when used correctly
I've done all the things too and aside from having KP I simply have extremely dry skin in general. So this is what I have to say:- This is way better than the Amlactin lotion. It's super thick and it takes a lot for me to cover my super dry body but damn I'm moisturized.- Smell is bad but that's what it takes so get over it. If you want someone to lick you go buy lickable stuff. Now moving on...- My KP didn't clear up 100% but if you do use it twice daily (which I do for a little bit then get lazy), it does diminish pretty well. I'm tried lots (including coconut oil which I still love and prefer as far as after shower moisturizer, non-scented, all natural, everything) - but for a product, this does pretty good and has been the most effective at reducing red bumps.- Really try to use it twice daily so you can witness how it works. Using it occasionally won't make a visual difference really. So challenge yourself. I took it as an opportunity for self-care. I'm great using it after a morning shower but at night I get tired and blah blah blah... This forces me to get off my phone, etc (though you can watch Netflix while you moisturize) and take a moment to butter myself up. Once it's done I feel good but ugh... twice daily.

this is my favorite! I use this on my face
Of all the Amlactin products, this is my favorite! I use this on my face! I am 59 and this has really made my face so soft, it works well as a base if I am applying makeup, and it has faded some brown spots on my cheeks from the sun. I have also been using it on my chest and the backs of my hands and have noticed that the brown spots on my hands are also fading! A little goes a very long way with this thick cream. It does not irritate the delicate skin near my eyes either, which surprised me. This cream needs to be applied when your skin is completely dry or it may have a grainy feel to it, which is kinda strange. I used to apply my other lotions on my damp skin for extra moisturizing, but with Amlactin this is not the best way to do it as you get that slightly sandy feel. But I am amazed at what this stuff and the other Amlactin products have done for my skin in just 2 weeks time, and I have tried Keri Lotion, coconut oil, body butters, you name it. This is a terrific product.

but nearly cleared up keratosis in like 3 days
Pricey but worth it. Didn't expect much, but nearly cleared up keratosis in like 3 days. I had a prescription to treat it that didn't work as well as this.I used it at night and sometimes in the morning. Works the best if you exfoliate in the shower then put it on.It says it makes you more sun sensitive and I'm sure it does, but if I put it on in the morning and wait a few hours, I have no problem at the beach - I'm fair skinned.Doesn't smell bad. Maybe a little odd when you first put it on - not a flowery lotion so no lingering smell good or bad. There is a subscribe and save option for this bottle that saves you a little if you plan on using it to treat keratosis - you have to keep putting it on, not like a permanent treatment.NOTE: this is a very thick version, I got the non-ultra in the green bottle that is a bit cheaper and just alternate the two - same results.
