Beautiful Design and Color, Quality Material!
I purchased this doorbell button to replace our original builder's grade, flimsy, dirty, paint covered, burnt out (light) doorbell button that had been beyond an eye sore for quite some time...I thought the pictures of this doorbell were very nice, but in person the design is beautiful and the antiqued brass is perfect to compliment our brick front colonial. It's a very subtle, yet rich color tone, and the finish is very high quality. The materials feel high quality. The surround is solid metal with a brass finish. In the hand, it has a nice heft to it, and doesn't feel flimsy at all. As stated above, the brass finish feels and appears to be high quality, and is very nice to the touch. The button itself is plastic, obviously, and I believe the little ring around it is as well (although it MAY be thin metal). The button is not permenantly mounted into the surround; if you push on the rear it slides out. I'm not sure if it was made this way so that it can be easily replaced if necessary, but when I was connecting the wires to the button it kept sliding out of the surround. Not a big deal, but just of note. When wired, the button has a soft, yellowish glow that is subtle and pleasant, yet very functional for night viewing. The button itself requires an easy press and protrudes enough to be comfortable for your finger (unlike some buttons that you have to use the tip of your finger to dig into).IMPORTANTLY: This is a RECESSED MOUNT doorbell button; meaning it requires a hole slightly larger than 1/2" to fit into. The doorbell button that was originally used on our house was surface mounted, and I found it to be far too much effort to get this doorbell to fit where the original one was due to the wires being thick and unyielding. I drilled out far more material than was called for, and could not get the wires to bend in such a way to allow this to sit into the hole and connect properly. Please double check to see what type of button you have (surface mount or recessed mount), and make sure you're willing to spend the time and effort (or hire someone) if you currently have a surface mount. I, personally, gave up and returned it in favor of a similarly designed surface mount... This is unfortunate, however, because this would still be my top choice design wise.I HIGHLY recommend this button for those of you replacing recessed mounted buttons, or those of you who either know enough to get it to fit or hire someone who does. It is a beautiful product, and if your situation allows for it, you really can't go wrong with it!+ beautiful design and excellent materials / finish+ lighted button is subtle yet visible+ Antiqued brass finish is beautiful, classic and gives perfect balance of adding visual appeal and blending with surrounding materials+ Simple installation if replacing another recessed mount button (2 mounting screws, 2 wires).NEUTRAL:* Button slides out of surround relatively easily. May not be an issue, but of note.* Recessed mounting may be issue for those replacing surface mount buttons. Unfortunately, most of the nicer designs are recessed mount - just a trade off I guess.

Beautiful and Easy to Install
I do handy jobs around the house but this one is a no-brainer that anyone can install. Unscrew the wires off the back of the old and put them on the new. It won't matter which wire goes where. It is solid metal (looks like brass) and slim designed. This one's been on a while and still looks great. It will complement any brass door hardware you have. It lights up at night to make it easy to find and provides a warm glow to the area. The price can't be beat--- I've looked around believe me. You won't be disappointed!

False Advertising
The doorbell button is actually gorgeous, functional and easy to install, but the finish is nothing like the photo. The doorbell listing claims it to be antique brass and it actually has a very modern silvery finish to it. Judging by the photos, some people got actual antique brass finish but I did not.

Antique Brass Door Chime Push Button - Heath Zenith 925
Although Plastic and not "Antique Brass", the appearance is excellent and the lighted push button works just fine. The old button was some 17 years old and still operated, but the button light was burned out and not replaceable. It was not acceptable to my wife (or to me). This replacement button was easy to install using the existing wiring, but it does require a recess behind it for the wiring & connection. It is not a surface mounted button. If you are mounting it on a brick or other masonry wall, it will require a 1/2" to 3/4" diameter drilled hole for mounting.

Easy installation
Our old doorbell button was rotted from age (the plastic button deteriorated). This was a perfect fit and an easy update. The screw holes didn't line up with the old, but that wasn't a big deal. The necessary recessed hole for the switch was a little bit of a tight fit, but I was able to install with minimal effort. And, the design is a much more attractive look than the plain jane rectangular piece of metal that the old doorbell had for a faceplate. The lighted button is a nice touch, making it stand out on overcast days, in the evening hours, etc. All in all, I'm very happy with it.

Needs a Diode
I was unaware that this doorbell needed a Diode to execute the full ring function. FYI if you are buying this either have a diode with your old button or buy one. I was lucky and my old one had one and I just installed along with wiring and it works great and looks great.

Looks nice, feels sturdy, no diode
This button looks stylish and feels sturdy, very similar to the one I was replacing. Since I already had the recessed hole, it was very easy to install. It does not have a diode pre-installed, so if your electronic chime requires one, you might have to install one or check to see if it's on your old button. Thankfully my diode was already installed on another button at the back door, so this was a simple swap.

2 Year Review. Don't Buy, Button Gets Stuck, Blows Tranformer
The button looks great but the pushing mechanism is cheap and eventually gets sticky and gets stuck pushed in. What happens is that when the button gets stuck in the pushed position, the electricity keeps flowing through the transformer and to the doorbell. It breaks the doorbell or blows out the transformer over time. I wouldn't get this doorbell button if you want to avoid some future headaches.
