They look just like the picture. As some others said, these shift around on the stairs so you’re constantly straightening them out. They are easy enough to pick up and move back to their original location, so that’s a plus. With 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 teenagers running up and down these stairs daily they aren’t showing any wear yet (I’ve been using them for 1-1/2 months so far) and the pet fur isn’t unmanageable to remove from the carpet.

I've used these for about a week without adding any double-sided tape to the corners as other reviewers have. I didn't want to ruin my new paint job with tape if I didn't have to. Do they stay in place? Mostly. I don't feel they are dangerous for us but I wouldn't put them in an older or less-stable person's home at all. We use these stairs a lot but we're two adults and our dog doesn't go this way. I suspect that a pet could make them move more easily. I also think as dust builds up under them, they'll slip ore. They do move a little which, for a perfectionist, is annoying because I'm straightening them now and then. Also I'm going to put some weight on a few corners for awhile to see if I can get them to lay more flat. At this point for me it's more of a visual problem than a safety one. I haven't noticed any slippage when I step on them. I'm expecting that I'll use some weight to flatten and probably be adding tape within a few weeks.

I have used carpeted stair treads in the past but frankly forgot where I used to get them so went looking for something new. The carpet ones I first ordered smelled weird, were poor quality, or just looked really cheap. I had to use a floormat in front of my door because it sits low so decided to try mat type stair treads. These work very well. My dog is young and healthy but trying to go too fast up or down she was slipping on the stairs. These treads really help. And I would say that the adhesion is very good. They do shift a little but it really is just a minor adjustment needed maybe once a week or so. To clean them, I just sweep them off when I do my steps and they look clean and fresh again. They are comfortable to bare feet and flat enough that I don’t trip. There was a funky smell at first but it was gone in a few hours. I’m a little surprised how happy I am with these. Would definitely get again.

We are pleased with the quality and look of these treads on our 38 steps throughout the house. We put added rubber adhesive to hold them in place bc they did slip some. So far so good!

I do like these stair treads to hide some dirt and also to help the slip on the stairs. But you can see, they do move around with use and I constantly adjust them. I clean them but vacuuming or shaking the dirt off outdoors. I haven’t washed them in a washer yet.

Because they don’t stick, they are a safety hazard. Don’t buy them.

These are great stair treads, they have no adhesive but their rubber backing holds them in place and they haven’t moved at all going up and down the stairs. In addition they’re quite beautiful! Exactly what I wanted.

Bare wooden stairs are just not safe.
