Q: Doesn't this scratch the surface of the MacBook ?

Not at all. It comes with different sized inserts and you just pop in the one that is designed for your MacBook model. Expensive but highly recommended!

Q: Does it fit a 12 inch MacBook ?

Twelve south arc came with 2 complimentary rubber inserts to house different sized Macs. I use one of the inserts to hold my 13” Mac Book Air, does the job beautifully.

Likely it will be quite loose. My MacBook Pro 13 wobbles about in it.

Q: Does this version come with Insert I for the 2022 MacBook Air 13” M2?

The version that I bought only includes an insert for the 2018-2019 MacBook Air, so if the dimensions are different, I would imagine that it doesn't.
