Hal Leonard Christopher Parkening Guitar Method Volume 1 Book with Online Audio

Good stuff

I already owned a copy of Parkening's book, but I wanted access to the digital files, and I have found them to be invaluable. This is one of the best sources for teaching oneself to play classical guitar. Highly recommended

I use my iPhone to access the tracks with the studies in this book and amplify it with a wireless speaker. The tracks can be slowed down or sped up to original speed as the student improves. The pieces are very pretty with the accompaniment and makes practice enjoyable. I’m actually getting as much or more than I did with lessons.

Love the audio companion, but a tad fast for a beginner. Has nice duets with an instructor, wish it had more contemporary pieces. Overall love it!

This is a good guitar method. The recordings that come with it, are excellent.

CHRISTOPER PARKENING WAS A STUDENT OF THE LATE SEGOVIA AND HIS BOOK REFLECTS HIS GREAT TECHNIQUE. IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS STUDENT OF CLASSICAL GUITAR YOU MUST GET THIS SERIES OF BOOKS EVEN IF YOUR NOT A BEGINNER.

It is an okay book. I have two main concerns thou. It assume you already know how to read music and the DVD does not work well. It will only play the music and has no video to it so you cant see how it is done. The main reason why I give it 3 stars is because I expected more details from a book and DVD that you learn from. It leaves a whole lot to the reader to find out on there own. Unless you are an autodidact, I would look at a few other before buying.

Some material is elementary, but even this mater8ial has useful gems. Have not read the entire volume 1 and 2 but am finding it very useful.
