Yes, it's true, the fit for this was closer to the chart than what you usually get with shopping online.Be sure to measure yourself AND check to the seller's chart in the photos!I ordered the 4XL because, although it's a little big on me, the size accommodated for my bust (I wear a 42 DD) and it worked out quite nicely when I tried it on when it arrived. (I usually wear a 1-2XL top from Torrid)I'm looking forward to wearing this to a party later this year.

This dress is gorgeous and I'm definitely keeping it for my roaring 20's NYE outfit but that being said, I do have some "buyer bewares" to note about this purchase.It arrived on time and wasn't ripped or stained, but it was stuffed in a small plastic bag which probably wasn't great for preventing the beading from snagging.I wear a size US18 and am more bottom heavy with big arms. I prefer a looser look and so often size up to a 20 for trousers, skirts, and the like. I saw reviews saying that this runs small and so I got a 4X (20/22) and am glad I did. It's not that the outer (beaded) layer of the dress is too small or too tight, in fact I'd say it's quite roomy on me. Even the sleeves are very comfortable and flattering. It's the attached slip underneath that is a very thin, clingy material. It looked much better after changing into some shaping underwear and a proper bra, but the material is the kind that clings regardless.The slip in this particular color was also a tad sheer as well, as my grey undies were visible in the light during my initial try on. I'd say the dress is stretchy, though the outer layer is quite delicate because of the intricacy.The construction or execution though, could use some help. There were MANY loose and stretched threads (even with beading attached, just hanging loose) and some of the fringe was quite long.Everything was repairable on my own though, so with a lighter, scissors, a needle and a spare half hour I was able to salvage the disappointing parts.If you're buying this expecting it to be perfect, to pop it on and go, you may be disappointed but after giving it some attention I love it and am going to keep it.

Dress is beautiful overall; however, upon opening the box I found the dress loose and out of its plastic covering with no reason as to why since the bag zipped when I inspected it. Some of the fringe was stretched out, a few of the beading lines were snagged, and there is one bead on it that is an iridescent blue and not black to match the rest on the garment. To fix the fringe I cut them to match the others and I had to cut, tighten, and tie off the loose threading for the beading in three spots. There is nothing I can do to fix the one random bead, so I'm crossing my fingers no one will notice.When I put the dress on it was slightly tight in some spots while not tight in others (a common bigger girl problem that I'm use to) and hope the use of either spanx or shorts will remedy. Because of the few inconsistencies (which the fringe and snags could have happened while the dress was loose in the box), I had to give the dress 4 out of 5 stars. I am happy with the dress though and promise to update this review should anything else happen with the dress as far as falling apart or having problems.Personally, I think if you're incredibly picky and hoping for a perfect dress, then you may just want get one that is custom, otherwise the dress is a pretty great deal compared to other "costumes" and it so far seems to be clothing (not costume) quality with a reasonable price tag.*For reference, I am 5'5", 235lbs with a larger middle section, hips, and arms; bought a 2XL. The fringe extends down below my knee and the black under slip stops just past mid thigh toward my knee. It is a good length for me to feel comfortable and also be able to wear either black shorts or Spanx under. The arms weren't too tight, but I worry about it moving the dress up. The tightness came from my midsection and hips (normal for me), and I'm hopeful the use of my Spanx or shorts will help smooth that out and keep it from bunching at my lower back. I feel as though the 3XL would have been too big and I would have been swimming in it, so the shape of this is pretty on point with most clothing. I will say most dresses I fit in are between a 16-18 depending on cut and material, and range between the 1-3X. This material does not give or stretch, so if you think for a moment you need something to give for certain areas, you may want to bump up your size.

I LOVE THIS DRESS. I ordered For New Years and ordered it on 12-14 and received it on 12-19 even with the snow storm! I was nervous for the fit, but I read the reviews and went of the size chart and decided to get a 4x. I normally wear a xl-2xl and the 4x fit great! The material is a bit stretchy, but not crazy stretchy. The arms also fit great. There is actually some room with the arms. The beading and sequencing on the dress is great! The length is awesome the dress material goes right to my knees and the fringe goes past my knees so great length! (I’m 5’10”). Overall I love this dress! I would recommend to a friend!!

I ordered the 3X size to ensure a non-clingly fit. I normally wear a 2X. Someone that normally wears a 3X or large 2X will not be able to wear this dress. The bodice was a perfect fit and arm opening and sleeves also were a good fit ( I wear a 40B). The garment is not a straight shift but is tapered in at the waist and as a result did not smoothly fit as well at the waist and mid-section. The dress is beaded on a kind of mesh fabric over a tricot lining so there is a little stretch for comfort. Wearing a good foundation solved most of the fit issues. I will keep the dress.

Very happy with this dress. It looks more expensive than the price paid. It is long in the body and as I am short from shoulder to waist I will take it up on the shoulders to pull up the neckline to fit me better on the bust and hip lines. I bought a size 3X as the guide measurements suggested and the fit is quite generous. I am not unhappy though, as I wanted a slightly loose fit.

Loved the dress... was a hit at recent 20s party. Just watch the tassels when going to the bathroom.
